Gajim - 2019-03-21

  1. Chobbes Every time I start gajim it tries to join a room that no longer exists, and it complains with a billion pop ups... How do I make it not try to join automatically? I have tried disconnecting and it doesn't work.
  2. asterix Chobbes: in bookmarks winwow
  3. lovetox wurstsalat please dont add comments to commits, we cant search for them and they are hard to find if we discuss something there later
  4. lovetox i would deactivate this functionality if it was possible in gitlab
  5. lovetox And as i see it this was a commit to master branch of plugins, so why would you think this is used for 1.1?
  6. wurstsalat I see, will do it another way next time! seems I got confused with branches :) is a flatpak master branch version comming then?
  7. lovetox you have to ask hannibal
  8. hannibal wurstsalat: we can think about a flatpak nightly, but it needs to be provided by because flathub is for stable versions only
  9. wurstsalat I see. don't know if it's worth the effort though
  10. asterix Is it just to hist a file or do flatpack require some special software to be installed to host packages ?
  11. wurstsalat asterix, my pipeline for failed (timeout). would you mind to check for me? :)
  12. hannibal I think it's just a bunch of files needed, no special software
  13. asterix So no problem to host that. Now does it worth it???
  14. hannibal Let's wait for the first user asking for a flatpak nightly
  15. hannibal asterix: can you push a wheel file of nbxmpp to pypi?
  16. bot Karsten Vieth created an issue in _gajim_ < >: #9629: < Autostart in Windows 10 >
  17. asterix hannibal: hmmm i have to check how to build it and push it ... but wheel files depend on py version, no? So i would have to build ot with many py versions
  18. hannibal It doesn't depend in the Python version. Command should be `python sdist bdist_wheel upload`. See
  19. lovetox asterix could you check in our released gajim 1.1.2 gz file is no README contained
  20. lovetox in our nightlys it is
  21. lovetox was that maybe something that was changed after 1.1.2
  22. calvin asterix, AH! Did not see that. Thank you!
  23. bot Daniel Brötzmann modified an issue in _gajim_ < >: #9629: < Autostart in Windows 10 >
  24. track41 should I translate words inside ( ) with a "%" before?
  25. wurstsalat track41, mind to post an example?
  26. track41 %(who)s on %(time)s said:
  27. wurstsalat no, do not translate what's inside these brackets. those are placeholders
  28. track41 ok, thanks
  29. wurstsalat see
  30. wurstsalat just out of curiosity: for which language are you translating, track41?
  31. track41 portuguese
  32. wurstsalat brazilian or european? ;)
  33. Chobbes Why does gajim always say "Available (desycned)" and how can I make it... sync?
  34. Chobbes Is it because I had some accounts set to "off"...?
  35. wurstsalat Chobbes, do you have multiple accounts activated?
  36. Chobbes Yeah.
  37. wurstsalat one on away and the other on online for example means (desyced)
  38. track41 european
  39. wurstsalat track41, nice, a lot is missing there :)
  40. Chobbes Oooh. Okay. Thanks wurstsalat. I thought it meant it wasn't sure if it was up to date with the server.
  41. bot Daniel Brötzmann updated a merge request for _gajim/master_ < >: WIP: Revise some text strings

  43. Chobbes How come when I open some MUCs the room disappears from Groupchats in the roster, but other rooms remain if opened?
  44. bot Daniel Brötzmann created an issue in _gajim_ < >: #9630: < Click on link in subject raises UnboundLocalError: local variable 'command' referenced before assignment >
  45. johannes lovetox: you can also contact Lenucksi via jabber at to coordinate the setup of the sync of the repos. Might be faster
  46. johannes .
  47. lovetox i thought lenucksi was you Oo
  48. lovetox sync works now nicely with gitlab
  49. johannes Very nice :D
  50. johannes Great to see that Gitlab has that function on board
  51. wurstsalat asterix, jobs for my MRs get a timeout, could you investigate?
  52. dwd Hiya folks. I've got a custom-written MUC implementation (actually, MUC and MIX), and I'm trying to joina room with Gajim. While Gajim seems to see all the traffic, it never thinks it's finished joining. Psi (normally more forgiving) connects OK. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
  53. dwd I'm sending the other presence, sending self-presence with status code 110, and sending a room subject. They all look OK, so it's a bit of a mystery.
  54. dwd Interesting - Openfire *doesn't* send a subject for rooms that don't have one (a bug), but Gajim's OK with that. So it must be the self-presence I suppose.
  55. asterix wurstsalat, it's now running. On every new contributor, we accept the runner to run jobs.
  56. asterix it's your first contribution (as a MR I mean) so we have to authorize you to run jobs
  57. asterix dwd, yes, must be te self presence that indicate join is finished ...
  58. wurstsalat asterix, I changed my name from daniel to wurstsalat in this chat here, this is not my first MR on gajim's gitlab (though I had four months of inactivity :)
  59. wurstsalat thank you for checking this!
  60. dwd asterix, It's the Subject that should do that, according to the spec. Not that it matters much.
  61. MattJ dwd, citation needed
  62. MattJ "After sending the presence broadcast (and only after doing so), the service MAY then send discussion history, the room subject, [...]"
  63. dwd MattJ, Ah, interesting, I can read the stuff in 7.2.16 two ways, indeed.
  64. dwd MattJ, "After the room has optionally sent the discussion history to the new occupant, it SHALL send the current room subject. [...] If there is no subject set, the room MUST return an empty <subject/> element."
  65. dwd MattJ, Again, I don't care, I'm sending both self presence *and* a room subject.
  66. MattJ Fun
  67. dwd I'd paste iot, but now pastebin seems to hate me.
  68. dwd Here we are:
  69. dwd Top one is mine, bottom is Openfire (which works).
  70. wurstsalat asterix, regarding the website: maybe it's possible to knit something together using `mkdocs` (it definitely has fewer dependencies). Use case for mkdocs is project documentation, but doesn't need much more features I think. Themes are customizable, deployment should work on any server. Please have a look if there's time :)
  71. dwd Hmmm. Everything else I've tried works. Just Gajim that won't. I give up.
  72. asterix I have the same issue with a room (jdev). It's something wrong in the db or sth like that. Could you test with a new profile / db?
  73. kerel Hi! I'm using Gajim 1.1.2 and using the latest GNOME 3.32 I can't find the "Gajim" menu anymore (it used to be part of the top bar). Where to find the menu now / Did you already encounter this issue?
  74. kerel There was a change in GNOME: > Application menus are no longer recommended, and will not be displayed in GNOME 3's top bar from GNOME 3.32. Primary and secondary menus should be used as alternatives.
  75. lovetox kerel a bug in wayland
  76. lovetox
  77. lovetox you should though be able to reach almost all functions of that menu via shortcuts
  78. lovetox see help -> shortcuts
  79. kerel Ah, I see, thanks!
  80. lovetox dwd, im happy to investigate this
  81. kerel @lovetox: Should I open an issue on which links to this bug for others who run into this (the missing app menu fallback)?
  82. lovetox we already have a issue there
  83. lovetox which is closed
  84. lovetox so someone that searches should be able to find it, we could add more keywords to it
  85. bot Daniel Brötzmann modified an issue in _gajim_ < >: #9630: < Click on link in subject raises UnboundLocalError: local variable 'command' referenced before assignment >
  86. kerel @lovetox. Well, I'm still searching it (and search also before I joined&asked here) ^^
  87. bot Daniel Brötzmann proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ < >: Fix link handler in MUC subject
  88. kerel nvm, as it's an external bug this doesn't need an issue here. :) Thank you & others here for Gajim!
  89. lovetox ah sorry it was a merge request
  90. lovetox kerel, im sure someone else will open a issue at some point, but maybe they push a bug fix version of gnome soon ^^
  91. kerel Hah, with this strong hint I found it :D
  92. dwd Tracked down my weird MUC problem. My MUC was sending presence for the room-jid of the user during the "other presence" bit, so Gajim had a known contact and didn't check if it was a self-presence.
  93. lovetox dwd yes indeed we check for self_presence AND not a contact
  94. lovetox so the code path for the self presence was never reached
  95. dwd lovetox, That's what I'd found, yes.
  96. lovetox weird though that i could join your channel when i tested
  97. dwd That was the channel that worked. :-)
  98. dwd You couldn't join the failing one because it's not public (enough).
  99. lovetox ah k
