  8. MattJ Good morning
  9. MattJ Just wanted to note something unusual - there is no README file in (at least) the 1.1.2 source tarball
  10. MattJ I'm guessing that's not intentional
  11. porrier Where does gajim store data and such that needs to be backed up?
  12. hannibal porrier: iif it is not the flatpak version: ~/.config/gajim and ~/.local/share/gajim
  13. hannibal The data of the flatpak version is stored in ~/.var/app/org.gajim.Gajim
  14. andrey.g porrier, additionally: ~/.cache/gajim (for normal install)
  15. wurstsalat > Just wanted to note something unusual - there is no README file in (at least) the 1.1.2 source tarball > I'm guessing that's not intentional asterix ? ^
  16. wurstsalat hannibal, what's the directory structure in flatpak installs for ./.config/gajim and ./.local/share/gajim ? Wanted to add this to the wiki page
  17. hannibal .local/share/gajim -> .var/app/org.gajim.Gajim/data/gajim
  18. hannibal .config/gajim -> .var/app/org.gajim.Gajim/config/gajim
  19. hannibal wurstsalat, for completeness: .cache/gajim -> .var/app/org.gajim.Gajim/cache/gajim
  20. wurstsalat Thank you hannibal!
  21. asterix MattJ: our readme is in .md format, so it suits better in gitlab
  22. MattJ asterix, one of the advantages of .md is that it is mostly plaintext, and human readable/writable
  23. MattJ and I don't think that's a reason to leave the source tarball without any docs
  24. hannibal The readme is included in the nightlies, so it seems to be a release package problem
  25. bot Daniel Brötzmann modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9548 >: #9548: < Revise text strings >
  26. porrier ah, that stuff for flatpack is in .var/app now. I installed flatpak but there was an error at the end. Surprisingly gajim is running now as version 1.1.2 now. I'll remove the .deb-package and see what happens.
  27. oli porrier‎: the 503 error resolved itself?
  28. porrier oli: I am not sure. A few minutes ago I installed the plugins avaiable for the flatpak, that worked out. Altough I had this 503 error tonight, the flatpak was installed obvisously. Should I try again?
  29. oli porrier‎: 503 is often just a temporary error. if everythings works now ...
  30. porrier uuhm, I just see there are no plugins listet altough I get: Skipping: org.gajim.Gajim.Plugin.url_image_preview/x86_64/stable is already installed
  31. porrier The pluings-window a bit strangly empty.
  32. joemaro hey! i have a problem with gajim often not reconnecting. I can't force gajim to reconnect and by itself it doesn't do anything, so i have to quit the client and restart it. Is there a way to force gajim to reconnect?
  33. joemaro i'm on 1.1.0 (and am not sure if i can update currently) has anything changed in the reconnection department since 1.1.0?
  34. wurstsalat porrier, be sure to bot copy your 1.0.1 plugin to your flatpak 1.1.2 install. Then install plugins as described on the wiki page
  35. wurstsalat *not copy
  36. wurstsalat joemaro, I think this hasn't changed yet. There are several issues open about this on the tracker
  37. wurstsalat But have you tried setting your status to offline > online?
  38. joemaro thanks wurstsalat, i didn't see anything in the changelog either....
  39. joemaro of course :)
  40. wurstsalat Hm, yeah it's definitively a known issue
  41. joemaro would love a simple reconnect button, or maybe a console where i can issue text commands....
  42. wurstsalat I don't know why it's failing to reconnect though, lovetox probably has an idea about this.
  43. joemaro that's "good" to know thnx again
  44. joemaro isnt' there any console window hidden somewhere?
  45. wurstsalat You can trigger stuff remotely, yeah, but I'm not the expert on this. Gajim remote it was called, now it's integrated into to to some extend
  46. wurstsalat Into core*
  47. wurstsalat Have to go!
  48. asterix joemaro: just run Gajim from console and look if there are printed errors. Or run with -v to see full debug
  49. joemaro ok
  50. joemaro done, anything i should be vigilant for when the not-reconnecting is happening?
  51. joemaro (gajim is running as 'gajim -v' now, thats what i understood)
  52. porrier wurstsalat: I did not do this. Didn't copy anything. The contents of the pluginwindow are not clickable exept for the "install from file".
  53. wurstsalat Have you installed plugins after the description on the wiki page?
  54. wurstsalat The plugin window has to receive some changes for flatpak users, this is on the list of things to do ;)
  55. wurstsalat But flatpak users should install plugins either via their package manager or via cli (see wiki page)
  56. porrier wurstsalat: I installed plugins like so from the wiki: flatpak install flathub org.gajim.Gajim org.gajim.Gajim.Plugin.omemo
  57. porrier You say I should install them via the packagemanager?
  58. wurstsalat No, it's good the way you did it
  59. wurstsalat Some packet managers integrate flatpak and also available flatpak plugins
  60. porrier But sadly not useable somehow.
  61. porrier I mean the pluginwindow.
  62. wurstsalat It should be available there. It has to be, otherwise you won't be able to configure plugins. What do the logs say about this?
  63. porrier I can't configure plugins. Do I have logs?
  64. wurstsalat I don't know how to log for flatpak installs.. hannibal ? Someone?
  65. lovetox he means there is no plugin installer plugin
  66. lovetox yes porrier thats right, you have only 3 plugins with flatpak
  67. lovetox and they are decribed on the wiki page
  68. porrier lovetox: The pluginwindow is broken.
  69. lovetox how is it broken?
  70. porrier I can not edit it. May I send a small screenshot?
  71. lovetox yeah
  72. porrier Can I paste it in here?
  73. lovetox yeah
  74. porrier wait, Linux Mint is new for me.
  75. hannibal wurstsalat: you can paste the usual flags behind "flatpak run org.gajim.Gajim", e.g. "flatpak run org.gajim.Gajim -v"
  76. porrier Can't pastebin the .png
  77. porrier Tried "send file" within gajim but it says "the server recommends an unsure transport http. The screenshot is not sent.
  78. lovetox yes your server seems to not use https for uploads
  79. lovetox which you should fix
  80. porrier uhm, I'll look at this.
  81. wurstsalat porrier, use some image paste service
  82. porrier Do you know one?
  83. wurstsalat Just search for one, I never use them really
  84. porrier The lock in the downright corner is open and shows an excalamtion mark. I'll search a pastebin server for now.
  85. porrier lovetox: In the component of prosody cfg I set http_upload_external_base_url = "https://bitcorner.de/share.php/" so that should be secure transport, no?
  86. lovetox i have no idea, please ask the prosody support
  87. lovetox your server servs the uploads on a http url
  88. porrier ok
  89. porrier http://prntscr.com/m9d3ab
  90. lovetox its not broken, just no plugins are installed
  91. lovetox you have to install them like in the wiki decribed via flathub
  92. hannibal porrier: have you copied data to .var/app/org.gajim.Gajim/data/gajim?
  93. hannibal The might be problems if you copied the old plugins
  94. porrier hannibal: No, I deinstalled the original .deb via packagemanager and installed the flatpak.
  95. hannibal Okay. Can you execute: flatpak run org.gajim.Gajim -v
  96. hannibal And check if there is a problem with plugins
  97. lovetox im not sure he installed any plugins via flathub
  98. hannibal He said so
  99. hannibal > I installed plugins like so from the wiki: flatpak install flathub org.gajim.Gajim org.gajim.Gajim.Plugin.omemo
  100. lovetox still needs a restart
  101. lovetox of Gajim
  102. porrier flatpak run org.gajim.Gajim -v Found default language: de Logger gajim level set to 10 Logger nbxmpp level set to 20
  103. porrier I'll restart Gajim
  104. hannibal If the plugins are still missing, can you run "flatpak install flathub org.gajim.Gajim.Plugin.omemo" again
  105. porrier oh boys, a restart of Gajim solved everything. The pluginwindow looks good now.

  118. wurstsalat By the way, I changed my handle from Daniel to wurstsalat to avoid confusion (I think inputmice sometimes speaks as Daniel)
  119. lovetox yeah i wondered about that :)
  120. wurstsalat wurstsalat is unique as far as I can tell
