Gajim - 2018-11-16

  1. mrDoctorWho is this normal for gajim to consume up to 700MB of RAM?
  2. lovetox if you let it run very long, yes
  3. Link Mauve https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/commit/7f1dfe5a8caddf0f23bb13ac8d40ea0714507993#89b6438d1e3df75be909ad2afcb7225238f20036_94_143 why? I’ve seen stickers larger than that which didn’t cause any issue.
  4. lovetox there has to be a upper limit, because of ddos, and the xep says 8 kB
  5. lovetox im open for another limit though if it makes sense
  6. Link Mauve First sticker I found from Movim is 31 KiB: https://fr.movim.eu/cache/1da3bcde34541067d6816d7ef9908c52.png
  7. lovetox hm and that works? there is nothing defined in the bob standard that you can split the data over multiple stanzas
  8. lovetox i thought the stanza limit is 10 kb, i know server support more but 3 times that seems in the region where we cannot really rely on it anymore
  9. Link Mauve Can you? :o
  10. Link Mauve I’ve never seen a BoB implementation doing that.
  11. lovetox doing what?
  12. Link Mauve It doesn’t have a seq number like 0047, so I would be worried about lost packets which can’t be figured out.
  13. lovetox i said it *not* possible
  14. lovetox so sending 31 kb stuff in one stanza seems risky
  15. lovetox knowing that server have to only support 10 kb
  16. Link Mauve My avatar is like 28 KiB, and I’ve yet to find a server which rejects it.
  17. Link Mauve And I’ve seen way bigger stanzas around.
  18. lovetox so whats your idea, no limit at all?
  19. Link Mauve That’s what I implemented elsewhere: if you’ve received the data, there is no reason to reject it because it is above some arbitrary limit.
  20. lovetox i find that not so nice, thinking about that i cant know how big the stanza is that im requesting
  21. Link Mauve And you can’t know the size before receiving the data.
  22. lovetox yeah true, at the point where i set the limit i have received it already
  23. nifker can ChaCha20 be used for OMEMO?
  24. lovetox what is ChaCha20
  25. Qapaq Hi. I just updated to gajim 1.1 and i cant find the option for change the color font (chat)? it was removed?
  26. lovetox no, preference -> style
  27. lovetox mange theme
  28. Qapaq uhmm ok.. its more complicated now
  29. Link Mauve nifker, no, libsignal is explicitly using AES.
  30. Qapaq and what about the size of tabs?
  31. Link Mauve And OMEMO is defined as “whatever libsignal is doing”.
  32. Qapaq https://media.5222.de/upload/W0NKs22caBRm0iH2/Screenshot_20181116_080833.png
  33. Qapaq i think they are too large or is ok?
  34. Qapaq 🤔
  35. lovetox we dont set a size
  36. lovetox your theme does
  37. lovetox gtk theme that is
  38. Qapaq uhmm ok
  39. Qapaq thank you for your work. Gajim looks better and more cohesive BUT
  40. Qapaq why you change the noto emoji style? T_T
  41. lovetox to what?
  42. lovetox ah misread
  43. Qapaq i dont now
  44. lovetox we didnt change
  45. lovetox google changed it
  46. Qapaq now it just looks diferent
  47. Qapaq Ohhh
  48. Qapaq ok, sorry
  49. lovetox in preferences you can also try out the twitter emojis
  50. Qapaq uhmm i dont like them
  51. lovetox yeah me too :)
  52. Qapaq it looks blurry too
  53. Qapaq see

  70. lovetox Link Mauve, do you know how movim sends these bob images?
  71. lovetox i mean the cid
  72. lovetox wrapped in xhtml?
  73. lovetox or maybe oob?
  74. bronko clicking the emoji icon and using "Ctrl+." show different emoji selector widgets, is this intentional?
  75. daniel bronko, yes, Ctrl + shows the gtk emoji chooser. The other is Gajim's emoji chooser
  76. bronko ok, thanks..do we need both? the dajim chooser is prettier :-)
  77. bronko ok, thanks..do we need both? the gajim chooser is prettier :-)
  78. lovetox no but it also doesnt hurt
  79. bronko can i change the shortcut so it opens the gajim chooser?
  80. lovetox no not currently but would be easy to add as an advanced config option
  81. bronko should i open a feature request?
  82. lovetox if i havent added it in a few days yes
  83. lovetox chances are good i add this soon
  84. bronko will do, thank you!

  91. Qapaq What happened to Control + M ?
  92. lovetox what should happen ?
  93. Qapaq it doesnt hide the menu bar
  94. Qapaq hide or show
  95. Qapaq i mean, control + m hides o show the menu bar
  96. Qapaq at least in the previous version
  97. lovetox In gtk3 the menu is now a bit different architecture wise
  98. lovetox Gajim doesnt really control where it shows up
  99. lovetox the desktop does
  100. lovetox some desktops dont display it on the application, rather on the top of the screen
  101. lovetox for example mac and ubuntu
  102. Qapaq in plasma i can hide the menu
  103. lovetox but other systems display it inside the application
  104. Qapaq but with 1.1 i cant
  105. lovetox how does plasma hide themenu?
  106. lovetox either way, its not a widget anymore so no hiding
  107. Qapaq uhmmm ok
