Gajim - 2018-11-13

  1. Link Mauve “22:49:34 lovetox> hm yes could be a gajim bug, maybe it doesnt do a full join in that situation”, no, this was indeed a Prosody bug back in 0.10, which is fixed in 0.11+.
  2. Link Mauve It wasn’t explicit in the XEP back then that a presence containing a MUC <x/> was a full join.
  3. Link Mauve So if you had the same full JID as a participant in the room (you before you restarted your server), the MUC service would think you just wanted to update your presence and not do a join.
  4. Link Mauve Update Prosody and this issue will disappear forever for everyone.
  5. Link Mauve Nothing4You, ↑
  6. Nothing4You does that mean the prosody hosting the muc must be updated?
  7. Nothing4You or mine?
  8. Link Mauve Yes.
  9. Nothing4You well
  10. Nothing4You that took longer than expected
  11. Nothing4You Link Mauve, unfortunately i don't see the muc history in any of my clients
  12. Nothing4You can you copy what was after your Yes?
  13. Nothing4You nvm i just realized there's logs in the motd
  14. Nothing4You or there was nothing after that
  15. mrDoctorWho Ctrl+Z doesn't seem to work when the keyboard layout is different from US
  16. mrDoctorWho Which is annoying

  18. ben How do I quit this group chat?! I right click and press disconnect, but when I re-open gajim it comes right back!
  19. jsv main menu, Gajim -> Bookmarks, select the room and uncheck auto join. Probably 🙂
  20. ben It's not personal!
  21. ben But thank you!
  22. ben And if it worked, goodbye!
  23. mrDoctorWho Could anyone please give me a link to the latest plugin manager?
  24. mrDoctorWho (for master)
  25. mrDoctorWho Found it
  26. mrDoctorWho Anyways, this is REALLY annoying when you start gajim and get OMEMO disabled
  27. mrDoctorWho You get a lot of " This message was encrypted with OMEMO and could not be decrypted." and you're never gonna be able to decrypt them and they are written to the history
  28. zuglufttier mrDoctorWho, I had that yesterday as well and already whined about it here :D
  29. zuglufttier Started at 18:20...
  30. mrDoctorWho
  31. lovetox Then dont switch constantly Gajim Version
  32. lovetox stay on either master or stable
  33. mrDoctorWho I do stay on master
  34. mrDoctorWho I don't have any other versions installed
  35. lovetox then why do you need to download plugins?
  36. mrDoctorWho Because for some reason Gajim complaned of an incompatible plugin version
  37. mrDoctorWho 11/13/2018 07:36:31 (W) gajim.plugin_system Plugin without min/max version: omemo
  38. lovetox you must have not updated the omemo plugin for a long time
  39. mrDoctorWho Well, plugin installed haven't told me to
  40. mrDoctorWho Well, plugin installer haven't told me to
  41. zuglufttier I had the same problem, by the way!
  42. lovetox probably the old one
  43. zuglufttier I don't know why the problem occured, I didn't switch versions.
  44. lovetox yeah ok i know now what the problem is
  45. lovetox thats what we fixed with this patch a few days ago 😃
  46. lovetox damn, have to get this to debian before it reaches backports
  47. lovetox damn to late..

  49. userrrrrrr Hi! Does gajim support privacy lists?
  50. userrrrrrr (xep 0016)
  51. Link Mauve These are deprecated, you shouldn’t use them in newer setups.
  52. Link Mauve Generally, Blocking Command (XEP-0191) or Invisibility Command (XEP-0186) are what you want.
  53. Link Mauve Many servers dropped support for Privacy Lists already.
  54. userrrrrrr Link Mauve, my server doesn support invisibility
  55. userrrrrrr sooo, do I have to block stanzas manually or what?..
  56. Link Mauve Easiest would be to implement it in your server.
  57. userrrrrrr Link Mauve, i don't own a server.
  58. Link Mauve Ask your admin to enable this module then, even easier.

  62. lovetox Link Mauve, even if you dont like privacy lists it would be nice if you could give an accurate answer if a user asks
  63. Link Mauve lovetox, it’s not a question of liking or not, it’s a question of it being deprecated and in the process of being removed from servers.
  64. Link Mauve So if they start relying on it and their admin later updates and it doesn’t work anymore, it could have bad consequences.
  65. lovetox i have nothing against it if you give this info, but you could also add, yes gajim supports it :)
  66. Link Mauve I didn’t know.
  67. lovetox ...
  68. lovetox prosody was the one that doesnt support privacy lists anymore, right
  69. Link Mauve No really.
  70. Zash Not included with Prosody anymore, no, but still available from 3rd party module repo
  71. lovetox i would remove privacy lists, if there was a impl of invisibility command
  72. Link Mauve I haven’t seen Gajim expose this option in years, so I didn’t know if it was still supported.
  73. Zash Everyone gets HTTP upload and stuff from there so the difference is subtle
  74. lovetox but its a bit of an ignored xep
