Gajim - 2018-11-06

  1. bot Daniel Brötzmann modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9422 >: #9422: < Doubleclicking a participant in a non-anonymous MUC >
  2. asterix daniel: do you want to update website translation before i plublish it this evening?
  3. daniel yes I'd like to :)
  4. asterix Done thanks
  5. daniel who makes sure the release will be mentioned in the upcoming xmpp newsletter?
  6. asterix No idea ... I don't know where they take their info from. But we can ask
  7. Sotneo https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/News_and_Articles_for_the_next_XMPP_Newsletter
  8. daniel thank you Sotneo!
  9. marmistrz I came across the following bug:
  10. marmistrz one of my contacts has recently added a new device
  11. marmistrz I sent a message to them. An OMEMO fpr trust dialog appeared
  12. marmistrz I trusted all the fprs but the message was sent to the old set of trusted fprs (i.e. the message was not encrypted for the new fprs)
  13. marmistrz Is this one more thing fixed in 1.1.0?
  14. lovetox No and its not strictly a bug
  15. lovetox The message is already sent befor you trust the new fingerprint
  16. lovetox because there are active fingerprints available
  17. lovetox This would need a new UI, what you want is, new Fingerprint comes up, Gajim delays sending the message, waits for you to make a decision, then sends the message
  18. lovetox but yes i agree this would be better, but it needs some redesigning of the current workflow
  19. mrDoctorWho Hey guys
  20. mrDoctorWho The "Write a message" message keeps on it's place when you do paste through a context menu
  21. lovetox yes if you dont click into the field first
  22. lovetox i think i remember trying to fix that, but was not easy
  23. bot Daniel Brötzmann closed an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9418 >: #9418: < joining a public MUC on a different server to what my account is registered with >
  24. andrey.g mrDoctorWho‎, right-click in the message input field and "Write a message" disappears or how do you invoke the context menu? Also without mouse clicking using CTRL+V the place holder vanishes.
  25. daniel I also think this was fixed some time ago
  26. lovetox i remember doing something for that
  27. lovetox but i dont remember if i found a solutions 😃
  28. mrDoctorWho andrey.g, lovetox fixed that for left click
  29. mrDoctorWho but can't you connect to the paste event and clear the message input box?
  30. lovetox mrDoctorWho, you cant paste with a left click, left click selects whatever you click
  31. lovetox andrey.g asked you how to reproduce
  32. lovetox as is he cannot
  33. mrDoctorWho Oh, I misread
  34. lovetox what version do you use?
  35. mrDoctorWho well I updated my local master branch like a week ago
  36. mrDoctorWho let me see if I can do this on another gajim version
  37. lovetox how do you invoke the context menu?
  38. mrDoctorWho right mouse click
  39. lovetox no mrDoctorWho, no need to test on other Gajim versions
  40. lovetox ah i know now again
  41. lovetox some Desktops select whatever you right click
  42. lovetox and some do no
  43. mrDoctorWho lovetox, I can't check the version I had this issue on, because this one is at work
  44. mrDoctorWho that one*
  45. mrDoctorWho and this one, which I'm writing from right now, is my home laptop
  46. lovetox indeed maybe connecting to the paste event, but i think we do that otherwise CTRL+V would not work
  47. lovetox i have to check
  48. mrDoctorWho and no, I can't reproduce it here
  49. lovetox What system do you have the problem on?
  50. mrDoctorWho Ubuntu 18.04 with Awesome WM
  51. andrey.g > some Desktops select whatever you right click Indeed, something like "do not capture focus", so that you can paste into another window while not loosing focus from your currently active window.
  52. mrDoctorWho yeah that sounds like it
  53. Sotneo If somebody else would be interested about GTK touch events on Windows. There is a patch for GTK here https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/729
  54. jjrh Does anyone know how to style/control the size of treeview cells? https://i.imgur.com/luVhrU3.png I wanted to get rid of the padding on cells. Got the header's padding to 0 by setting min-height: 0 and padding: 0, but the actual cells I can't seem to find the right magic.
  55. jjrh Was trying to get stuff like the roster and MUC participants to be more condensed and went down a rabbit hole trying to figure it out. The gtk debugger isn't very helpful for basically anything using a cell renderer
  56. daniel jjrh have you checked if it's not in gajim.css?
  57. jjrh Well I started there - but to eliminate any issues grabbed a treecell example to hack on. Basically each cell has a bit of padding at the top and bottom and for the life of me can't find what actually controls that.
  58. lovetox jjrh most is controled by css
  59. lovetox adding a class to the treeview with just { padding: 0px } should be enough
  60. jjrh Tired - doesn't seem to do anything for the cells.
  61. lovetox where do you try this?
  62. lovetox in the gtkinsepctor?
  63. jjrh there and then in a css file I loaded.
  64. lovetox type: treeview {padding: 0px}
  65. lovetox if this does nothing do treeview {padding: 20px}
  66. lovetox and see if it makes a difference
  67. lovetox if yes that means the setting is already at 0pxc
  68. lovetox then you can try the same with "margin"
  69. jjrh treeview.view { I can increase the padding, but but at 0; you still get white space above the cell contents
  70. lovetox send me the example
  71. jjrh https://i.imgur.com/iyvfwoO.png https://paste.gajim.org/view/c71f3627 https://paste.gajim.org/view/4907b8e5
  72. jjrh in the image, the blue lines (on 'C++' ) is the piece of padding I want to eliminate.
  73. lovetox dont think its possible
  74. jjrh Wondering if the padding might be on the text? Can't seem to figure out a selector that would target that.
  75. lovetox but you have almost no padding if there is a image in the row
  76. lovetox this only exists for small text
  77. lovetox it seems there is just a min height somewhere
  78. jjrh Yeah I noticed that in the roster for gajim. The images go right to the top of the box.
  79. jjrh I find the GTK docs for CSS stuff to be really really poor.
  80. jjrh On the plus side I did learn a lot about gajim's codebase regarding the gui
  81. lovetox cell renderer seems a bit of a problem because its not shown in the gtk inspector
  82. lovetox but yeah generally this is sometimes really the work
  83. lovetox to get these little things correctly
  84. lovetox i really think this is some hard coded min height
  85. jjrh yep, I think you're right. A lot of exhaustive googling started to lead me in that direction - looks like I /could/ make a new widget and modify the function that returns the height but I don't care THAT much.
  86. lovetox i dont know what you plan to do, but the avatr defines the line height mostly
  87. lovetox and i see almost no space that can be removed
  88. jjrh If there isn't a avatar, there is a bit of space above the icon, but a lot of this was just trying to figure out how I might condense stuff.

  95. asterix yeah ! 1.1.0 is here!
  96. daniel Wohoo! :)
  97. daniel asterix, in this room's subject: the room log link has a trailing / which is not part of the link and thus not working
  98. asterix it works for me
  99. asterix and without last / it doesn'twork
  100. daniel I tested this from conversations
  101. daniel ok the text shows a trailing slash in the link but the url doesn't have it
  102. daniel yes, now it works for both gajim and conversations
