Gajim - 2018-08-30

  1. lovetox pep. yes i still do that. should the lib not convert old object to new ones?
  2. lovetox how else should i store the session?
  3. lovetox i didnt work on it that much, i implemented openpgp in another plugin the last week
  4. pep. The lib would not have knowledge of these old structures anymore. It happened to me once already.
  5. Maranda lovetox, Gajim doesn't seem to handle subject formatting correctly if there's a <delay /> in the stanza
  6. Maranda lovetox it formats it like it's part of the room history
  7. pep. What you want to do is use the Lib's API to which you provide serialized data to regenerate the objects
  8. Maranda lovetox, but I'm not entirely sure Prosody should do that (it's not mentioned in the spec)
  9. Maranda (aka text is grey instead of green)
  10. lovetox pep. no i dont want to provide any serialization
  11. lovetox thats definitly something the lib should do
  12. lovetox Or are you suggesting everyone that uses the lib, should dive into the lib code and try to write his/her own serialization for all the objects
  13. lovetox seems not very user friendly 😃
  14. Maranda eyes lovetox intensively
  15. Maranda coughs "subjects plx if not fixed already" 😜
  16. concerto Maranda: * intensely
  17. Maranda ciacona/concerto/fugata: 👍
  18. concerto wonders how many understand their naming scheme
  19. lovetox Maranda, when im at home i look it
  20. Maranda Your Miyazakiness betrays your concealing attempts, ha!
  21. Maranda lovetox: 👍
  22. concerto hehehe
  23. pep. lovetox, the lib can provide some kind of serialization indeed
  24. pep. But storing pickled object, even if that's called serialization, is not sane I think
  25. lovetox i see no other way right now
  26. bot Parstion created an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9315 >: #9315: < Create own custom emote set >
  27. porrier Is it possible to hide a single contact in the roster?
  28. lovetox no
  29. lovetox you can put him into a special group
  30. lovetox and minimize the group
  31. bot Parstion modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9315 >: #9315: < Create own custom emoticon set >
  32. concerto Say you have no tabs open. You get a DM/highlighted message in an MUC/MUC PM. You press a keybind Gajim opens a tab for that chat If there are more than one, pressing it again will open a tab for the next such chat (maybe it always opens the oldest, or maybe the newest? 🤔) What do y'all think?

  34. Link Mauve Great. :)
  35. lovetox concerto, but we have a keybind for "next event"
  36. lovetox and a highlight should be an event
  37. bot Philipp Hörist closed an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9315 >: #9315: < Create own custom emoticon set >
  38. concerto lovetox: I don't see it in Help -> Keyboard Shortcuts ._.
  39. lovetox hm its maybe not added their but im pretty sure we have one
  40. concerto v1.0.99+d57bfcbca/gajim-default-nightly, 20180827-1
  41. porrier lovetox: How do I create a new group?
  42. lovetox concerto it seems there is no hotkey for it, but we have the method
  43. lovetox if you have a pending event, try to open another console and type "gajim --show-next-pending-event"
  44. lovetox if this works, you can put this command on a OS/System shortcut
  45. lovetox then you dont have to have gajim selected for the shortcut to work
  46. lovetox porrier CTRL + J
  47. concerto lovetox: thanks, I'll try that
  48. porrier lovetox: CTRL + in the roster does nothing
  49. lovetox + J
  50. porrier oh
  51. lovetox also CTRL + N, and type the name of the groupchat jid
  52. lovetox should also bring up a menu entry to join that channel
  53. porrier CTRL + N does nothing and CTRL + J brings up a menu to join a groupchat.
  54. lovetox are we talking about Gajim 1.0+?
  55. porrier no, 0.16.7
  56. lovetox yeah the ctrl + n dialog doesnt exist there
  57. porrier Will Gajim 1.x run on an openSUSE Leap 15.0?
  58. debacle porrier which GTK+ version is on this OS?
  59. porrier debacle: I don't know yet. I'll install a Leap 15 this afternoon on a removeable medium.
  60. debacle so it is a very current version, I assume?
  61. debacle Gajim 1.x runs perfectly well on Debian 9 (stretch) which is more than one year old. If your distro is not significantly older, you are probably fine.
  62. debacle I see from Wikipedia, that your OS has been released only this year. No problems to expect.
  63. porrier Looks good. I'll try it out.

  74. lovetox_ thanks porrier will try to fix it
  75. lovetox_ porrier whats your gtk version?
  76. lovetox_ porrier i need you pygobject version and gtk version
  77. lovetox_ very weird that you see this deprecation warnings
  78. lovetox_ Maranda, what is the stanza that causes problems?
  79. Maranda lovetox_, just join any room on jabber.org (i think it has the same issue) or I got it from tatoeba@chat.tatoeba.org
  80. Maranda lovetox, a room subject with <delay /> element anyhow
  81. Maranda lovetox_, a room subject with <delay /> element anyhow
  82. Maranda lovetox_, it'll trick Gajim into formatting it like the room's backlog history
  83. Maranda lovetox_, I suspect it's something rather trivial to fix anyways :P
  84. lovetox_ ok, and why do we set a delay?
  85. Maranda lovetox_, that I'm not the one to ask.
  86. lovetox_ this is not mentioned in the xep
  87. lovetox_ but yeah i can ignore it
  88. Maranda I know, but as I said you better direct the question at a Prosody's dev :P
  89. lovetox_ but Gajim runs prosody, we dont have that problem
  90. lovetox_ actually thats the first time i see this problem at all
  91. Maranda lovetox_, I think Link Mauve's server runs trunk or something
  92. Maranda and they rewrote mod_muc there
  93. Maranda lovetox_, side not, M-Link really does the same.
  94. Link Mauve My guess would be that it tells you the time at which the topic got set.
  95. Maranda lovetox_, side note, M-Link really does the same.
  96. Maranda lovetox_, so by patching you'd fix all subjects on jabber.org as well.
  97. lovetox_ yeah i get the idea
  98. lovetox_ but i wonder how other clients react to that
  99. lovetox_ hm not an error, someone added that intentional ^^
  100. lovetox_ omg rabbit hole that change ..
  101. Maranda lovetox_, hmm?
  102. MattJ lovetox_, as always :)

  110. laudela Hi! I just found this evening that GNOME and Gajim shared the same keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+UP/DOWN. Gnome changes desktop while Gajim should iterate over past messages. Has anyone ever seen this?
  111. concerto laudela: Gajim also uses C-up/C-down - doesn't that work for most cases?
  112. lovetox_ yes not much we can do
  113. lovetox_ it impossible to make it right on all desktops, what we would need is a UI so the user can configure it
  114. lovetox_ yes CTRL + PAGE UP / PAGE DOWN does the same
  115. laudela yes sorry. CTRL + ALT + UP/DOWN should allow to quote
  116. laudela thank you
  117. concerto oh, I didn't read properly
  118. ta > yes sorry. CTRL + ALT + UP/DOWN should allow to quote CTRL + SHIFT + UP/DOWN it is for me. Gajim 1.0.3, Gnome 3.28 (i think).
  119. Zash AttributeError: 'GcMessageReceivedEvent' object has no attribute 'delayed' I'm getting a ton of these right now
  120. Zash And I don't see my own messages?

  122. unclechu when i try to edit text with dark system theme text and background is merging with each other, is this known UI issue?
  123. unclechu if it colors background with explicit color it could explicitly color text also
  124. Maranda lovetox, are windows build broken?
  125. Maranda lovetox, they stopped at 29th
