Gajim - 2018-08-24

  1. Link Mauve apollo13: “17:59:43 apollo13> I am getting this in the xml console: https://dpaste.de/FJ7K/raw -- is that normal or do I need to enable something in prosody?”, looks like your client is trying to remove all of your bookmarks, is this really what you wanted to do?
  2. apollo13 Link Mauve: gajim tries that during startups -- I am not doing anything. Either way after reenabling pep xep on the server everything is back to normal
  3. concerto Folks, what happened to the message correction background color variable in the advanced configuration editor? O.o
  4. concerto gajim-default-nightly v20180819-1
  5. concerto Using dark theme without that = white text on line pale background = nearly impossible to read.
  6. lovetox concerto, this is the background color https://www.colorcodehex.com/839496/
  7. lovetox and white text on that is not unreadable
  8. lovetox and if you are using nightly from 19.08 i dont think you are using Gajim 1.1
  9. lovetox so the setting in config should still be there
  10. meaz I've just updated to last gajim-nightly update on debian, and gajim doesn't open anymore.
  11. meaz https://conference.gajim.org:5281/pastebin/5a8be628-a151-49a6-b19f-59f3551b4946
  12. meaz Is that a know issue?

  17. Maranda No solution yet on deduplication for muc history sent on join by the room?
  18. Maranda https://upload.lightwitch.org/share/xBJCWcRntddW9621/backlog-dedup.png
  19. lovetox Maranda i join that channel every day and dont have this problem
  20. lovetox as you can see the timestamps of the messages differ
  21. lovetox this is not a duplication
  22. lovetox these are most likely corrections
  23. Maranda lovetox, are you putting the pc on suspension then resuming?
  24. lovetox no
  25. Maranda .
  26. lovetox i see only one duplicate in this window
  27. lovetox 1. is a message
  28. lovetox 2. is corrected message so a different message
  29. lovetox and the last message seems really like a duplicate
  30. lovetox same text and same timestamp
  31. Maranda lovetox, ok 🤔
  32. lovetox but still weird, why would the server send us that last message doubled
  33. lovetox it seems like you joined, and received X messages
  34. lovetox and the last one was sent twice ?!

  56. Daniel lovetox, a short list of wiki pages: https://paste.gajim.org/view/887308d4 I think some of them (if not all of them) can go
  57. lovetox i think the database extract should still work
  58. lovetox rest was deleted
  59. Daniel Thank you!
  60. Maranda is being suicidal
  61. Maranda is trying to retrieve the muc list on conference.jabber.org
  62. mikaela I saw preview, took you seriously and was going to find suicide hotline -.-
  63. Maranda awww
  64. Maranda hahah gajim is still ongoing trying to process the list
  65. rom1dep lovetox: traceback on messagewindow, FYI https://code.tamytro.org/_admin/gists/LbJwjhbgSPt9Zv7PujC4
  66. lovetox are you using gajim remote?
  67. lovetox i dont think this has something to do with messagewindow
  68. rom1dep just ran the latest head with ./launch.py
  69. lovetox disable gajim remote in ACE
  70. rom1dep disabled
  71. pvoigt Updated jesterday to gajim-nightly 20180823-1. Now Gajim does not start anymore. Could anybody please help: http://paste.debian.net/1039173/
  72. pvoigt I am on Debian 9.5
  73. lovetox debacle, something seems wrong with the debian package
  74. lovetox it seems not to install the gtk folder
  75. lovetox maybe our setup.py does not install it
  76. lovetox but i dont see where it would exclude it
  77. pvoigt lovetox: Thanks for quick response. Sounds like you some time to fix it. I am glad that I have installed bitlbee parallel to Gajim otherwise I could not have contacted you.
  78. debacle is this the Debian package from Debian itself or something else? there is not "-nightly" package in Debian...
  79. lovetox ah damn pvoigt uses the package from our server
  80. lovetox sorry
  81. pvoigt Yep.
  82. lovetox then it has to be a problem with setup.py
  83. debacle good, that we use slightly different package names :~)
  84. pvoigt Hhm, what is the difference between the nightly and the default-nightly here: https://ftp.gajim.org/debian/dists/unstable/main/binary-amd64/ They have different version numbers.
  85. pvoigt I have currently installed https://ftp.gajim.org/debian/dists/unstable/main/binary-amd64/gajim-nightly_20180823-1_all.deb
  86. lovetox try the default-nightly
  87. lovetox gajim-nightly is the 1.1 branch
  88. lovetox the stable branch nightlys
  89. lovetox default-nightly is the dev branch nightlys
  90. lovetox you can also try just gajim
  91. lovetox would be interested if all 3 yield the same error
  92. pvoigt lovetox: Need something to eat right now. I will test later this evening and report results of trying different packages. I will not miss any messages if you use my nick. Thanks so far.

  96. pvoigt lovetox: gajim-default-nightly starts but throws several plugin errors. Are the plugins between gajim-default-nightly and gajim-ightly not compatible?
  97. lovetox they are, but you have to update them to the most recent
  98. pvoigt Just "gajim" cannot be installed due to dependency problems: "gajim : Depends: python3-nbxmpp (>= 0.6.4) but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages."
  99. pvoigt If I understand your version description correctly, gajim-nightly is more stable gajim-default-nightly than.
  100. pvoigt If so, I nevertheless don't care to stay with gajim-default-nightly, if I can get rid of the plugin errors. Is there a way back to gajim-nightly once the plugins have been updated for gajim-default-nightly?
  101. lovetox they work for both
  102. lovetox but just the newest version
  103. lovetox about what plugin errors are you talking about?
  104. pvoigt Just a moment, errors are a bit lenghty, will create a pastebin of the errors message...
  105. pvoigt http://paste.debian.net/1039201/
  106. pvoigt lovetox: All those errors seem to be caused by two missing modules: gajim.filechoosers and FailedDecryptEvent. But I may be wrong, because my Python knowledge is not that good.
  107. lovetox delete essesions
  108. lovetox the plugin has been removed
  109. lovetox are you even using these plugins?
  110. lovetox whiteboard, hamster etc?
  111. lovetox i would recommend to delete all plugins
  112. lovetox then install the plugin installer
  113. lovetox https://ftp.gajim.org/plugins_1/plugin_installer.zip
  114. pvoigt Am am not aware of using essesions, whiteboard, hamster...
  115. lovetox and download only the ones you need
  116. pvoigt I am aware of having installed just omemo and url image preview. These two modules are the only ones shown as active. I cannot explain the module errors.
  117. lovetox active? plugins are also loaded if they are not shown as active
  118. pvoigt is just searching how he once installed the modules for gajim.
  119. lovetox .local/share/gajim/plugins
  120. pvoigt lovetox: Ah, OK, then I understand. I once pulled in the whole plugin collection using "hg clone http://hg.gajim.org/gajim-plugins/ ."
  121. pvoigt But activated only these two modules. The module directory .local/share/gajim/plugins survived supposedly serveral major Gajm updates.
  122. pvoigt So I have do quit Gajim, delete .local/share/gajim/plugins, restart Gajim. How to install the plugin installer from ZIP https://ftp.gajim.org/plugins_1/plugin_installer.zip?
  123. lovetox go to the plugin dialog and select install from zip
  124. lovetox or just extract it to the dir
  125. pvoigt OK, will take a few minutes...
  126. pvoigt lovetox: Strange: I renamed the plugin directory, stated Gajim which start without errors. However, the plugin-installer is already installed - besides a lot of modules.
  127. pvoigt ...at least are those modules shown as available...
  128. lovetox its shipped with gajim, i forgot
  129. pvoigt OK, but plugin directory is still empty. Those shown modules are just available for installation. I am going to install omemo and url image preview.
  130. lovetox yes do that :)
  131. pvoigt OK, looks good so far, no new error and a cleaned plugin directory. I did this with gajim-default-nightly, e.g. I changed my initial Gajim version from gajim-nightly to gajim-default-nightly.
