Gajim - 2018-05-22

  1. jubalh when/how can this happen: 05/22/2018 10:33:47 (W) gajim.plugin_system.omemo OMEMO message does not contain our device key ?
  2. lovetox someone writes you and doesnt trust your fingerprint
  3. lovetox or you write something from another device and dont trust your other devices
  4. mimi89999 lovetox: Could you please update the `messagewindow` branch?
  5. lovetox yes in the evening
  6. andrey.g Looking at XML logs I see clients sending a lot of chat states like "composing"/"paused composing" in MUCs(!). Gajim seems to not show them by default. And I cannot find the corresponding preference in ACE. Is there any?
  7. lovetox no we dont show them
  8. andrey.g Does Conversations, poezio,.. show them? Else why should servers send them?
  9. lovetox not servers send them
  10. lovetox clients do
  11. lovetox its normal chatstates
  12. lovetox and yes conversations shows them
  13. louiz’ and poezio as well
  14. andrey.g lovetox, thanks, they're normal but occur too often (and are useless for me).
  15. andrey.g louiz’‎, thanks.
  16. lovetox just close the xml console :)
  17. lovetox and be happy
  18. andrey.g This is a workaround :) It seems I'd need to enable CSI in Gajim. Is there already any plugin? "Available/unavailable". Once some people started to avoid status updates, one cannot rely on this for other people either. Then this information is not really useful anymore, but the amount of transferred data is significant. Let's just cut this off by the server (and maybe leave only joined/left to be passed).
  19. lovetox this is not somthing you would want to implement as a plugin
  20. lovetox but it seems relativily easy
  21. lovetox just add csi to stream features at the beginning
  22. lovetox and use idle monitor to send active/inactive
  23. lovetox the part about the streamfeature has probably be impl in nbxmpp
  24. andrey.g this sounds good
  25. lovetox or we display chatstates :)
  26. lovetox we can do both :)
  27. andrey.g Tor the step 1 even better. Then everyone will see all these infos and can decide whether they are rather flood or not.

  45. r00tobo Hi, how are you guys?
  46. r00tobo btw lovetox I downloaded the flatpak package from flathub and now I'm using gajim 1.0.2
  47. r00tobo now if for example I set my private key gpg to gajim the other guy I gave him my public key that is linked to my private key and I add assign his public key to his account
  48. r00tobo how to verify that we are actually using the GPG ?
  49. lovetox push the lock symbol in the chat
  50. lovetox and select GPG
  51. r00tobo for example OMEMO gives a small lock icon that I can use
  52. r00tobo hmm I only see OMEMO
  53. lovetox did you download the GPG Plugin ?
  54. r00tobo yea
  55. r00tobo but I can't configure it
  56. lovetox did you activate it?
  57. r00tobo yes
  58. r00tobo what about my OpenPGP in Accounts area ?
  59. r00tobo is it linked to that plugin?
  60. r00tobo let me try to restart gajim and see if it appers
  61. r00tobo back
  62. r00tobo so now I see PGP
  63. r00tobo in the lock
  64. r00tobo cool
  65. r00tobo lovetox, so now when I turn PGP in the conversation it reads the public key I assigned for that person right ?
  66. lovetox it decrypts with the key you assigned
  67. lovetox and encrypts with the key you set in Accounts window
  68. r00tobo what ? you mean the other way around
  69. r00tobo if someone is sending me with my public key
  70. lovetox yeah
  71. r00tobo I should use my private key in accounts to be able to read it
  72. lovetox it encrypts to the key you assigned the contact
  73. lovetox and decrypts with what you set in Accounts window
  74. lovetox in accounts window you can also set to use GPG Agent
  75. lovetox then you could configure your gpg agent so it doesnt ask you for your password every 5 minutes
  76. lovetox i dont know whats the default here
  77. r00tobo I see didn't test PGP yet
  78. lovetox if you are not too paranoid about your keyring
  79. lovetox i would leave the agent off
  80. lovetox then gajim uses the password you supply for the duration it is running
  81. r00tobo it's off by default
  82. r00tobo yea
  83. r00tobo when I restart gajim it asks for my private key pas
  84. r00tobo passphrase
  85. lovetox its a usability thing, either you trust gajim with it or your gpg agent, but if you give it only to gpg agent, you should conifgure it in a way so it does not lock your key after X minutes
  86. lovetox otherwise gajim will ask you every X minutes again
  87. r00tobo why would it ask every X minutes ?
  88. lovetox do you know what the gpg agent does?
  89. r00tobo no lol
  90. lovetox ok then forget what i said
  91. lovetox just use gajim and report if you ahve issues
  92. r00tobo ofc
  93. lovetox im going to bed, good night
  94. r00tobo it's running through flatpak
  95. r00tobo good night sir
