  1. Citizen Zibb Which Distro in particular?
  2. Link Mauve ArchLinux.
  3. Link Mauve I’ve tried a few other ones during these ten years, but I’ve never found anything better so I stayed.
  4. Citizen Zibb Arch is nice
  5. Citizen Zibb Rolling release is good in my opinion but there are downsides to every release type
  6. bbreezin Agreed. I've used both Mint and Arch over the years. Arch is a little bit of a hassle to set up but I've always liked it. So yeah.... going back to Arch
  7. Citizen Zibb I'm not sure what the hell they did to aur though
  8. juniorjpdj Totally killing featuee
  9. juniorjpdj AUR
  10. juniorjpdj cant stand not having it available
  11. juniorjpdj for desktop: arch > everythimg
  12. juniorjpdj *n
  13. Citizen Zibb I like the ability to use aur but they changed something a while back
  14. Link Mauve Citizen Zibb, what changed?
  15. Link Mauve I didn’t notice much change in these ten years, the biggest one was the move to aur4, during which I threw away all of my helpers to use only git and makepkg.
  16. Citizen Zibb https://www.archlinux.org/news/deprecation-of-abs/
  17. Link Mauve That’s nor AUR though.
  18. Link Mauve And this one allows you to use git directly to checkout any package you want, which is strictly better than having to rsync the entire archive everytime you need to use it.
  19. juniorjpdj LoL it's about building packages from main repos Citizen Zibb
  20. juniorjpdj building by ourselves
  21. Link Mauve s/nor/not/
  22. juniorjpdj Treating Arch like gentoo
  23. Citizen Zibb Genpoo
  24. Citizen Zibb I don't like change for changes sake
  25. Citizen Zibb But it must have sucked for them to maintain
  26. juniorjpdj why you think that rsync > git?
  27. juniorjpdj was it faster to clone?
  28. Citizen Zibb In the grand scheme of things it was done to make their lives easier
  29. Citizen Zibb Just like removing the installer
  30. Citizen Zibb Among other things
  31. Citizen Zibb Anyway, these days I find myself almost permanently stuck to windows for work
  32. bbreezin Right, I'm going through the install process now. This is definitely different than the last time I did it, probably ~2 years ago
  33. simfir Hi. Is the following a known problem or am I the only one having it? - Sending a file (picture) in an OMEMO encrypted chat from Conversations (Android, 2.1.4) to Gajim (Arch, 1.0.2, OMEMO 2.5.11) corrupts (probably no correct decryption) the file. The other direction works.
  34. lovetox what do you mean with corrupt?
  35. simfir No longer recognised as a jpg file
  36. lovetox stay here, in the evening we can test this if you want
  37. simfir md5sum is different as well. Thank you. I can't stay, but will be back. Evening of what timezone? (I'm in CEST)
  38. lovetox me too
  39. lovetox lets say around 19-23.00
  40. simfir ok

  43. concerto o/
  44. concerto Are the Debian builds broken?
  45. concerto (I get an error when I try to upgrade.)
  46. lovetox please tell us the error

  50. cweiske Hi. The "join our room" link on https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/wikis/community/home does not work with Psi. Could someone with write access add a ?join to the end of the xmpp url?
  51. cweiske (see https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0045.html#registrar-querytypes-join)
  52. cweiske I saw that the link-local default account was removed: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/commit/1935a4f40e96361bbb026487849eb176b55892aa
  53. cweiske does someone know why?
  54. lovetox it was no removed
  55. cweiske I meant: the default account is not created anymore
  56. lovetox you just have to activate it under accoutns
  57. lovetox instead of it beeing activatet by default
  58. lovetox if you look under Gajim -> Accounts you will see its there
  59. cweiske yes. but why is it not enabled by default anymore?
  60. lovetox because we only want bug reports from people actually using it
  61. lovetox also its a niche feature
  62. cweiske oh, so you did get overwhelmed by bug reports about that?
  63. lovetox often we had to recommend to turn it off yes
  64. cweiske ok
  65. lovetox because people not even using it, encountered problems, because it is always online and sending stuff 🙂
  66. lovetox But you can create a issue about it if you like
  67. lovetox if more people come forward and wish to enable it by default again
  68. lovetox we will overthink that decision
  69. Link Mauve I do wish that.
  70. lovetox Link Mauve, as you often stated you dont even use Gajim ..
  71. Link Mauve At conferences it’s an amazing way to find people.
  72. Link Mauve lovetox, I do in some specific cases, and in this case it’s not even about me but about other people being available in that situation.
  73. Holger So I go to a conference and all of a sudden Link Mauve will spam me without me even being aware of the feature? :-)
  74. Link Mauve Pretty much. :p
