  33. concerto Uh...TIL the show location plugin...uses Google Maps? 😮
  34. lovetox i think the configure allows to use something different
  35. concerto Wait, sorry, there isn't any show location plugin.
  36. concerto But I just sent a geo: link in Conversations and Gajim displays a Google Maps link (and a Google Maps preview image which has nothing to do with the location I sent 🤔 )
  37. lovetox and if you click it, is the location correct?
  38. lovetox you can configure the maps provider in the url_image_preview plugin
  39. concerto lovetox: it is
  40. lovetox ok so .. i have to test this, but are you sure the picture doesnt correspondend to the location
  41. lovetox maybe you can not recognize it because of the zoom level
  42. Daniel concerto, urlimagepreview displays geo: uris with a preview, map provider is of your choice, select it in settings
  43. concerto Thanks - I switched it to OSM. I think that should be the default...
  44. concerto lovetox: I'm trying to test it with other geo: links, but for some reason I can't get a preview anymore.
  45. CatMan hi all
  46. CatMan is anybody use OpenFire here?
  47. SouL CatMan, open_chat@conference.igniterealtime.org it's not what you asked I know, just in case you want to know Openfire's room
  48. Daniel concerto, did you close the chat window after changing the preview provider?
  49. concerto Daniel: I tried closing and opening it. No change.
  50. CatMan SouL‎, no, friend.. i want ask several question around OpenFire users with Gajim
  51. SouL I know, just in case. Good luck :)
  52. Daniel concerto, let me check in half an hour ;) OSM preview provider was always slower than google, and it's tied to an old API key, used in Gajim 0.16
  53. concerto lovetox, Daniel Also, can't seem to copy the original geo: link from the Google Maps preview image. (copying only yields the Google Maps link)
  54. lovetox CatMan just ask your question
  55. CatMan my question about chatroom. when i use Vacuum wifth Message Archiving - i have all messages from chatroom after login. but when i use Gajim with MAM - after first start i have part of messages and after second start i have no messages. but if i click on History at this chatroom - i will see all mesagges.
  56. CatMan this problem of OpenFire or Gajim?
  57. Wiktor CatMan: which version of Gajim are you using?
  58. CatMan Wiktor‎, last. 1.0.1
  59. Wiktor interesting, in 1.0.1 I see the messages being loaded even in conversation window
  60. CatMan Wiktor‎, this problem was at 1.0.0 and all of beta and alfa
  61. CatMan at this chatroom i see 3-4 days message, but at chatroom at openfire - 0 messages
  62. lovetox this is expected
  63. lovetox after a new start of gajim the chatwindow is empty
  64. lovetox we load only the messages since you left
  65. CatMan but Vacuum load last 40-50 message
  66. lovetox yeah we do this only in single chat, loading the last messages from db
  67. CatMan also at chatroom on openfire open_chat i have not any message, but i logout from there several days ago
  68. lovetox in MUC only what you missed
  69. lovetox rest is in history
  70. lovetox maybe the chat doesnt archive messages?
  71. CatMan no. vacuum have many messages
  72. lovetox without debug logs i can say
  73. lovetox start gajim with -l gajim.c.message_archiving=DEBUG
  74. lovetox and join the channel
  75. CatMan wait..
  76. CatMan now after restart i see all mesages form my first word "hi all" at this chat
  77. CatMan at open_chat of openfire again empty windows
  78. CatMan where i can see debug?
  79. CatMan same problem at my server too. i have MUC and at settings i set "Archive group chats". and at server side i see all of messages, but gajim was not load it after restart or load several messages. probably last of my visit.
  80. CatMan but is not cool, because i need to open history everytime for known about dialogs when i was loged out.
  81. bot Daniel modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/8748 >: #8748: < Make reconnection timeout configurable >
  82. Daniel concerto, for me both preview providers are working.
  83. CatMan also. when i switch on and switch off avatars or extra info at users - i have double message at chatroom from last login
  84. Daniel Copying the geo:-uri would require a new menu item. You can get the coordinates from the resulting link though
  85. concerto geo:28.632671,77.21973?z=17
  86. concerto (Sent from Conversations; I don't see a preview in Gajim. Clicking it opens the location on the OSM website correctly.)
  87. concerto Let me try restarting Gajim.

  108. samphunter Hi, I have a problem connecting to a certain server using Gajim. It gives "Unable to get local issuer certificate". The certificate is from let's encrypt and is valid for Chrome, Miranda NG and Conversations, did not test elsewhere. I have this problem on both 1.0.1 installed and 1.0.0 portable. Is this a bug, or is there some reason why Gajim may consider the certificate invalid even though other software accepts it?

  115. benrob0329 samphunter: I wonder if Gajim uses system certificate validation
  116. benrob0329 Eg Chrome might have its own list
  117. samphunter benrob0329‎, I tried adding the intermediate certificate into windows trusted roots and still not working.
  118. samphunter The only thing I can think of is Gajim not using the windows validation and not being able to obtain the intermediate certificate for some reason.
  119. samphunter But I have no idea why, the server in question is not mine, so I don't know whether they include the chain or not, but still. This should work IMHO, so I would say fault of Gajim.
  120. lovetox We dont use the system cert store
  121. lovetox and the server has to include the chain
  122. lovetox *On Windows i might add
  123. lovetox there is maybe a way to add the certificate to gajim, but the correct solution is that the server includes the chain
  124. lovetox Holger, or am i wrong?
  125. samphunter Is there any way I can chceck whether the server includes the chain?
  126. lovetox i think so yes, but im not to good with this server stuff, but stay in this channel and someone will come along who knows the stuff 🙂
  127. Maranda samphunter, *which server*
  128. samphunter Maranda‎, social.gibberfish.org
  129. Maranda Apr 05 16:04:53 s2sin68795a0 debug certificate chain validation result: invalid Apr 05 16:04:53 s2sin68795a0 debug certificate error(s) at depth 0: unable to get local issuer certificate, certificate not trusted, unable to verify the first certificate
  130. Maranda samphunter, if you use let's encrypt with something like certbot it should already build the whole certificate chain for you.
  131. samphunter Maranda‎, it is not my server
  132. Maranda Then ask the owner to check the tls configuration.
  133. samphunter I did, he did not find any problem. I hoped I could get some more info here, about what exactly is missing or what is going on.
  134. Maranda samphunter, me thinks he built the chain wrong
  135. lovetox Maranda, with what tool did you check this?
  136. Maranda samphunter, tell him to copy /etc/letsencrypt/live/<certname>/fullchain.pem and privkey.pem to /etc/prosody/certs and use that in the config.
  137. Maranda lovetox various.
  138. lovetox if run the domain through ssllabs.com it says everything is fine
  139. Maranda openssl s_client too.
  140. lovetox https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=social.gibberfish.org
  141. lovetox or does it get maybe another cert if ssllab request and not a xmpp clinet
  142. samphunter lovetox‎, the webserver is different from XMPP, so he might have the correct chain there.
  143. Maranda but that's for HTTP wasn't it?
  144. lovetox ah yeah i thought thats the reason but was not sure
  145. Maranda check.messaging.one for example errors.
  146. Maranda https://check.messaging.one/result.php?domain=social.gibberfish.org&type=client
  147. Maranda lovetox, my educated guess is that he tried to build the chain manually and put stuff in the wrong order, or didn't put the right ICA.
  148. samphunter Considering sslabs is not complaining, I would guess he either did not copy the certs or did not configure Prosdy correctly
  149. samphunter ?
  150. lovetox i wonder why other clients dont have a problem with it
  151. samphunter No idea, I know most web browsers are tolerant to missing chains. They cen just look those certs up online. I guess the clients do the same an Gajim just did not implement that/used library that does not do that...
  152. lovetox Maranda do you have a setting in prosody that limits how many mucs a user can be joined=?
  153. Maranda o_O
  154. Maranda I'm not aware of any

  247. UsL I got confused by someone discussing httpupload and omemo. If I'm in an active omemo chat session and I do a httpupload the server admin can still see the picture/file appearing on their server but not from which account it originated?
  248. zak UsL: Admins of xmpp servers should not be able to decrypt omemo encrypted files uploaded via httpupload.
  249. zak They only see the encrypted file.
  250. UsL I see. But if I take the url of the file I can see it in a browser?
  251. zak Usually no. It must be decrypted with a key which is usually provided as anchor of the URL.
  252. UsL okay
  253. zak So for example: http://server/path/file.jpg?key=somethingsomething...
  254. zak somethingsomething is not visible for the admin.
  255. UsL I see. Thanks for clearing up the confusion.
  256. zak It is sent omemo encrypted to all patricipants in the room.
  257. Neustradamus There was a https://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/omemo-filetransfer.html
  258. zak No problem.
  259. nico atm the file is not omemo encrypted. the file has a symetric aes gcm cipher over it and the message containing the link is omemo encrypted
  260. zak Ok, yes, sorry, that was wrong in my first message. It is encrypted however which is the important thing.
  261. nico yes and the message is omemo encrypted. so the server admin does not even know you send an image from. judging from the messages sent
  262. 布偶君 nico: Easiest way 😂
