  14. zak Hi. Just installed gajim on my laptop (Debian stretch, ftp-gajim-package).
  15. zak First thing: ImportError: No module named 'PIL' ...for URL image preview
  16. zak Second thing: For some reason my account password doesn't work anymore. I tried changing/ setting it again, but the dialog lacks an OK button.
  17. Link Mauve zak, make sure you installed pillow for python3 then.
  18. Daniel Did you install python3-pil?
  19. Link Mauve Daniel, isn’t pil the unmaintained one?
  20. Link Mauve zak, changes should happen when you make them, without having to press ok, or is there another issue?
  21. zak Probably not, will do that then, thanks. But this should probably be marked as recommended package.
  22. zak Link Mauve: I cannot close this dialog!
  23. Link Mauve zak, hmm, I see a cross on the top-right part of the dialog, maybe your window manager doesn’t support that kind of decoration?
  24. bronko i have this too on some dialogs in Gajim, missing an Ok oder Close button
  25. bronko zak, use Escape key or right click on the small titelbar and select close
  26. zak Ok, I used CTRL+F4 and it worked. Still not ideal
  27. zak No, no cross and only a very small top bar.
  28. zak python3-axolotl would be nice as recommended, too
  29. bronko the ui for "Accounts" is very inconsistent, some settings open in the same window and use the "back" button on the top left, some open a new window with close/ok/canel buttons and X on the titlebar, some open new windows with no buttons and no X and they "block" the rest of the ui until you close them
  30. zak ...and python3-qrcode (the message in the console is even wrong, it tells me python-qrcode is missing)
  31. bronko zak, which desktop environment are you using?
  32. Link Mauve zak, both URL image preview and OMEMO are plugins, it wouldn’t make sense to make their dependencies recommended in the main Gajim package.
  33. Link Mauve zak, python-qrcode is how the package is named on ArchLinux, it’s somewhat hard to know which package name corresponds to which distribution.
  34. zak Link Mauve: I know, thats why recommended...
  35. Daniel Link Mauve, python3-pil is listed as optional runtime requirement in Gajim's readme.md, I thought it's the right one
  36. Link Mauve zak, recommended means, for most users, that it will be installed by default.
  37. Link Mauve Daniel, sounds like the README should be fixed then.
  38. Daniel python-pillow then?
  39. Link Mauve On Debian, most likely python3-pillow.
  40. pitchum on Debian the package for pillow is named python3-pil (for backward compatibility I suppose)
  41. bot Daniel modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/7481 >: #7481: < Add Minimize on close option to Join Group Chat dialog >
  42. Daniel on arch it's python-pillow. not so easy to point out the right one
  43. Daniel some of the recommendations should be updated as well: e2e and pgp are now plugins (packages for these plugins are listed as optional runtime requirements). python-axolotl and python-qrcode could be added as well then
  44. bot Daniel closed an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/7404 >: #7404: < Incorrect nicknames in chat history >
  45. bot Daniel modified an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/7194 >: #7194: < Info Bar dialogs >
  46. bot Bronko created an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9033 >: #9033: < UI: Accounts dialog sub-settings are not consistent >
  47. bot Daniel closed an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/6828 >: #6828: < Icons are too small >
  48. Asterix PGP as a plugin ... more or less ... It has partialy been moved as a plugin. GPG config is still in Gajim core, interface with python-gnupg is still in Gajim core
  49. Daniel Ah I see. But adding dependencies of often used plugins (e.g. urlimagepreview, omemo,..) as recommended packages could be useful.
  50. Link Mauve Daniel, my suggestion would be to package them as separate packages, instead.
  51. Link Mauve So that you wouldn’t have to use the plugin manager, and instead could use your normal software provider.
  52. bot Yann Leboulanger closed an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9032 >: #9032: < Ubuntu 16.04 dependency issues >
  53. Daniel Link Mauve, that sounds good as well
  54. Asterix I agree with Link Mauve
  55. debacle Daniel, you can see here, how Debian does it: https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?email=pkg-xmpp-devel%40lists.alioth.debian.org
  56. debacle There is gajim, gajim-antispam, ..., gajim-urlimagepreview.
  57. Link Mauve debacle, btw, would you consider finishing the integration of poezio in there?
  58. Link Mauve I reached to Tanguy Ortolo many times since the release of Stretch, he never answered any of my emails.
  59. debacle Link Mauve, funny, just yesterday I cloned your repo with the latest changes :~)
  60. Link Mauve I have a few things to finish, after which we could probably make a release.
  61. debacle No, there is no answer from him to Elenas question about Poez.io: https://bugs.debian.org/592159
  62. debacle If I have a little bit time, I'll try to prepare the package. With or without release - it is much easier to update a package than building a new one :~)
  63. Link Mauve I wrote to him in private in June, and again in February, he didn’t answer either emails.
  64. debacle Hope he is well...
  65. Link Mauve Same.
  66. debacle AFK
  67. Asterix Hey Link Mauve, don't take our beloved DD here ! ;)
  68. Link Mauve Asterix, I only asked because I saw a bunch of other projects than Gajim maintained on this list. :p
  69. r00tobo Hi
  70. r00tobo does anyone here uses OpenPGP ?
  71. r00tobo I can't seem to find my own openpgp key in accounts
  72. r00tobo I see other's keys I generated way back
  73. r00tobo how can I select my openpgp key from gajim ?
  74. r00tobo anyone?
  75. Asterix r00tobo, in accoutn preference window
  76. r00tobo Asterix, yea
  77. r00tobo in edit than accounts
  78. r00tobo I use 0.16.9 btw
  79. Asterix in last tab
  80. r00tobo personal information
  81. r00tobo but I can't see my pgp key
  82. r00tobo I don't know why
  83. r00tobo I have multiple pgp keys
  84. r00tobo I see 2 of them but the one I created for gajim doesn't show up
  85. Asterix try typing gpg --list-secret-keys in a console
  86. r00tobo yea it shows up
  87. r00tobo maybe if I reinstall gajim will fetch the keys ?
  88. Asterix no
  89. r00tobo because I created the keys a few mins ago
  90. r00tobo after I installed gajim
  91. Asterix if they show up in list-secret-keys but not in Gajim it's strange :/
  92. Asterix that's not related
  93. bot Alexander Grebenyuk created an issue in _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9034 >: #9034: < gajim's process name is "g" instead of "gajim" >

  95. r00tobo Asterix, the weird thing is that when I try to assign someone his public key I see mine in the list
  96. r00tobo as a public key
  97. r00tobo but the private key can't be shown
  98. Asterix of course, you also have your public key too
  99. r00tobo yea but it showed up just fine
  100. r00tobo but in the person information doesn't show up
  101. r00tobo the secret key I mean

  105. r00tobo Asterix, now it doesn't show anything
  106. Asterix it's more consistent then ;)
  107. r00tobo I did remove .gnupg folder in my home and re installed gajim again also removed the gajim home folder
  108. r00tobo but the public keys are shown perfectly
  109. r00tobo I added all my keys and all is shown
  110. r00tobo are*
  111. Asterix if you remove .gnupg, where does it find public keys?
  112. r00tobo I imported my keys
  113. r00tobo so now it's there
  114. Asterix ok. and yo ualso have .gnupg/secring.gpg?
  115. r00tobo yes
  116. r00tobo wait let me double check
  117. Asterix maybe it's a trust problem?
  118. r00tobo secring.gpg
  119. r00tobo yep it's there
  120. r00tobo hmm
  121. r00tobo let me check
  122. r00tobo I use kgpg as a front end too
  123. r00tobo all it's ultimate ow
  124. r00tobo now
  125. r00tobo [ultimate] (1
  126. r00tobo so after I did ultimate nothing show up
  127. r00tobo I use Fedora 27 so maybe it's a permission folder issue ?
  128. r00tobo the default permission folder is 700
  129. Asterix I don't know what to say. we just call gpg --list-secret-keys --fingerprint --fingerprint
  130. Asterix or gpg2 if you have it
  131. r00tobo no I have gpg
  132. r00tobo I just did that in terminal and it showed all the private keys
  133. Asterix and yon don't have errors in terminal?
  134. r00tobo no
  135. r00tobo perfect output
  136. r00tobo maybe I need to make the secring.gpg file readable ?
  137. r00tobo let me check the permissions
  138. r00tobo the file is only readable by my user
  139. r00tobo -rwx------
  140. Asterix it should be 600
  141. Asterix so yes it's fine
  142. Asterix (x is useless here)
  143. r00tobo I see
  144. r00tobo when I open the choose key it says failed to get secret keys
  145. Asterix who says that? Gajim? It's written in console?
  146. Asterix You run Gajim from a special user?
  147. r00tobo Gajim
  148. r00tobo no it's my normal user
  149. r00tobo all tho it has sudo

  151. r00tobo Asterix, hmm interesting when I created a new key pair with kelopatra gui it showed up in gajim
  152. r00tobo Asterix, when I select the openpgp key it asks for my passphrase but when I type it it says wrong passphrase

  171. Asterix 1.0.1 published !!
  172. juniorjpdj Asterix: I just.. compiled..
  173. juniorjpdj and I still have 1.0.0
  174. juniorjpdj fml wut xD
  175. Asterix juniorjpdj, compiled what?
  176. juniorjpdj gajim
  177. juniorjpdj i mean
  178. juniorjpdj not compiled, its python xD
  179. juniorjpdj packaged
  180. juniorjpdj i mean.. upgraded gajim-git from aur on arch
  181. Asterix 1.0.1 is in gajim_1.0 branch, not in master
  182. juniorjpdj master is not latest?
  183. juniorjpdj or what?
  184. Maranda has issues with *ghosts* on the muc room roster.
  185. Asterix it is development branch. So new features, new things
  186. Asterix 1.0.x are stable releases, only bugfixes
  187. juniorjpdj oh, ok
  188. juniorjpdj got it
  189. juniorjpdj so I'll not have master upgraded to 1.0.1 bcs that was already fixed here in commit
  190. juniorjpdj but version was not changed?
  191. Asterix yep, will arrive soon
  192. Link Mauve juniorjpdj, you can consider master as what will become 1.1 with new features, while the 1.0 branch will only get bugfixes.

  201. Link Mauve But the distribution itself doesn’t contain any, these come from a different repository.
