Gajim - 2018-01-21

  1. Citizen Zibb aye, but I don't want it to cause any issues... for that ill stick to git for windows and 0.16.9 for linux
  2. Citizen Zibb am I not making sense?
  3. lovetox then i guess you cant run it
  4. Citizen Zibb Well, thanks.
  5. lovetox you want to stick to packages provided by fedora, and the package you need is not there in the version you need
  6. lovetox i see no magic way around this :)
  7. Citizen Zibb I don't wanna have to pip all those dependencies
  8. Citizen Zibb really its alright
  9. Citizen Zibb I dont mind screwing around on any of my other linux boxes
  10. Citizen Zibb this one is not for screwing around
  11. lovetox https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-nbxmpp
  12. lovetox it seems the version is current and fine
  13. lovetox so what do you think is "too old"
  14. Citizen Zibb well it didnt work
  15. lovetox well why do you not provide the error you are getting
  16. Citizen Zibb I gave up
  17. Citizen Zibb Gajim needs python-nbxmpp >= 0.6.2 to run. Quitting...
  18. Citizen Zibb package in repos is python2-nbxmpp-0.6.1-1.fc27.noarch
  19. lovetox then install python3-nbxmpp
  20. Citizen Zibb it is
  21. Citizen Zibb Package python3-nbxmpp-0.6.1-1.fc27.noarch is already installed, skipping.
  22. Citizen Zibb its just not recent enough
  23. lovetox then write the package maintainer
  24. Citizen Zibb for every single package?
  25. lovetox for python3-nbxmpp
  26. lovetox why do you think there is another package missing?
  27. Citizen Zibb do you have/use fedora?
  28. lovetox no
  29. Citizen Zibb its fine
  30. Citizen Zibb forget it
  31. Citizen Zibb thanks for the help
  32. devcon Quick question here... the argument "account" which is passed to the OMEMOConnection initializer, is it just the bare JID?
  33. devcon yeap yeap
  34. rom1dep Citizen Zibb: Running gajim from git on f27, no extraordinary dependency issue: the only non-packaged dependency I seem to be relying on is python-nbxmpp which I pip install as a user (from git as well)
  35. Maranda Citizen Zibb, why not using Link Mauve AUR package? Also just using python-nbxmpp aur package will fix that
  36. Maranda Oh never mind missed the fedora bit
  37. lovetox devcon, yeah we use the bare jid as account identifier
  38. lovetox baitisj could you fix the one thing in the MR so we can merge, i want to make a release
  39. andy After destroying muc room Gajim should close the window and remove it from contact list.
  40. Maranda andy, configure it to do so?
  41. andy Maranda, I cannot find setting for that..
  42. lovetox with destroying you mean really destroy the room as admin?
  43. lovetox or closing
  44. andy Destroying as an admin.
  45. lovetox probably a bug then
  46. andy I Make an issue on gitlab?

  67. Asterix andy: nodestroying should not close window. We may be interested in the last chat and the reason for destroying
  68. andy Asterix, hmmm. So maybe making an checkbox in destroying room "Close window and remove contact" would be a compromise?
  69. lovetox Asterix, this may be true if you are part of a MUC that gets destroyed, but not if you are the person that destroys it or?
  70. Asterix Ha yes indeed
  71. andy and I think for normal user in a muc Gajim should not do anything after muc room was destroyed, but if user close window after admin destroyed room, room contact should be removed from contact list and from bookmarks.
  72. andy or show a message "MUC room was destroyed by an admin. Do you want to remove contact for it?"

  85. Maranda lovetox, if you didn't test yet pep on lightwitch.org for publish-options there was a bug, but it's fixed now it works as it should.
  86. lovetox thx but had no time anyway, maybe tomorrow
  87. lovetox does your pubsiub imp support disco on items?
  88. nico lovetox, will the http upload pr get merged befor the release?
  89. lovetox yes nico
  90. nico that is really nice 🙂
  91. mimi89999 lovetox: Will you merge the `messagewindow` branch?
  92. lovetox no of course not, because its totally unfinished
  93. lovetox but i will work on it when i have time
  94. Maranda lovetox, yes
  95. Maranda lovetox, not on pep though, just component pubsub.

  103. Horst Vogel AMD E-350 1.6GHz, Windows 10 pro 4 GB
  104. lovetox Treibholz, top right corner there is a button
  105. lovetox horstvogel, what gajim version?
  106. horstvogel lovetox: master 21.01
  107. lovetox hmm
  108. lovetox thats bad have to try it myself
  109. Treibholz lovetox: hmm, no
  110. lovetox what no?
  111. lovetox horstvogel, yes this is a bug because of a commit yesterday
  112. horstvogel lovetox: on i5 2500 3.3 GHz 25 %
  113. horstvogel lovetox: ok

  116. lovetox you seem to miss something in the top
  117. lovetox look into the advanced config editor
  118. lovetox for hide_groupchat_banner
  119. lovetox and set it to False
  120. Treibholz ahh, the banner is usefull now :-)
  121. Treibholz Thanks!
  122. Treibholz Can I get rid of the GNOME-Windowtitle, somehow?
  123. lovetox no
  124. lovetox but i think about to remove the menu from there, then its back to old
  125. lovetox but this will take a while
  126. Treibholz In a gnome-environment this is nice. But with tiling-windowmanagers it just looks wrong.
  127. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim >: *4aadc00b* < https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/commit/4aadc00bd609294b349cc58ce615678db6ddb44d > Revert "Improve speed of Windows client" This reverts commit 45e3139bd0a224e2a34f133849309afaab4c6338
  128. Maranda horstvogel, not sure but given that's a rather slow cpu with rather underperforming integrated graphics depending on what Gajim has to draw windows-wise I suppose it's rather possible.
  129. lovetox Maranda no that was a problem with me trying to improve the speed
  130. Maranda lovetox, :P
  131. lovetox commit is now reverted, tomorows nightly should behave as usual
  132. lovetox my knowledge about sockets and how they work is sadly minimal :/
  133. Maranda 🤔
  134. Maranda lovetox, GLib.idle_add should add a cb to the idle tasks queue list?
  135. lovetox i wanted it to call select() on my fds but this causes a lot of cpu time
  136. Maranda I have the vague, probably false since it's just a chunk of code, impression that you may do "stuff twice" that way but my knowledge on GLib stuff/task managing is as good as nothing XD
  137. lovetox yes, i thought the same
  138. lovetox because the method returns true so loop is not ended
  139. lovetox but when an exception happens it adds it again to the loop
  140. lovetox ah no
  141. lovetox there is a "raise" there so loop gets ended
  142. Maranda lovetox, not on second bit.
  143. lovetox hm? i dont understand
  144. lovetox in case of an exception, raise is called means the method never returns means loop is ended
  145. Maranda https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/commit/4aadc00bd609294b349cc58ce615678db6ddb44d
  146. Maranda second call of GLib.idle_add()?
  147. Maranda bear I'm rather agnostical to that code
  148. lovetox there are 300 lines of code in that diff that are not shown
  149. lovetox i call that method from somewhere else the first time
  150. lovetox and then the method adds itself to the loop again in case of an exception
  151. Citizen Zibb Gnome3 pisses me off so bad
  152. Maranda ARGH this freaking bug, https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/2713
  153. Maranda god damned ichat, I'm trying to debug something, and then it floods the server logs
  154. Maranda 😤
  155. Citizen Zibb I feel your pain
  156. lovetox ok seems the problem is that adding it without timeout of at least 1 ms
  157. lovetox is too much for the cpu
  158. lovetox if i execute this loop only every 1 ms
  159. lovetox cpu time is 0 %
  160. Maranda Nice 😄 👌
