Gajim - 2017-12-17

  1. bot André proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ <>: Port music_track_listener to GTK dbus
  2. ThibG lovetox, GTK+ Version: 3.22.24 Version de PyGObject : 3.26.1
  3. sergio Hello everybody, I'm in debian with the gajim repository and today the gajim package was updated to 1.0.0 alfa version
  4. sergio is it an error?
  5. sergio And now I can't use omemo 🙁
  6. nico Hi which branch of gajim-plugins should I now use as the gtk3 branch got deleted yesterday? master?
  7. sergio I have installed a few packages from sid to get gajim work again with omemo
  8. lovetox sergio, either you use the plugin installer
  9. lovetox thats should have updated plugins for you
  10. lovetox we switched from python2 -> python3
  11. sergio lovetox: but it didn't work
  12. lovetox this means you probably miss also the dependencys for most plugins
  13. lovetox start gajim with "-l gajim.plugins_system=DEBUG"
  14. lovetox and tell me what errors you see
  15. sergio But the thing is that I thought that gajim package from gajim repository for debian was the stable package of gajim
  16. lovetox it is kind of
  17. lovetox your problem is not with gajim
  18. lovetox it is with now incompatible plugins
  19. sergio lovetox: A few minutes ago I remove the plugins folder and I downloaded the plugins again and eveything works but omemo
  20. lovetox because you miss the dependencys
  21. lovetox python3-protobuf
  22. lovetox python3-axolotl
  23. lovetox python3-cryptography
  24. sergio lovetox: oh
  25. lovetox as is said we switched to python3, the plugin_installer is not a package manager, it cannot install dependencys for you
  26. nico lovetox, which branch of plugins should I use with the lastest master build?
  27. lovetox master
  28. sergio I downloaded manually from sid
  29. nico why did the gtk3 branch got removed?
  30. lovetox because it was confusing people
  31. lovetox that master branch of plugins is not for master branch of gajim
  32. lovetox sergio: you can find all plugins here
  33. sergio lovetox: thanks
  34. nico lovetox, yes I can confirm that this was confusing 😀 thanks 🙂
  35. lovetox also sergio are you aware that most plugins and gajim is in the debian unstable repos now?
  36. lovetox
  37. lovetox these packages handle all the dependencys for you
  38. sergio lovetox: oh perfect
  39. bot Marco created an issue in _gajim_ <>: #8806: <Error Version .. on Debian 9>

  42. bot Philipp Hörist closed an issue in _gajim_ <>: #8806: <Error Version .. on Debian 9>
  43. marc lovetox, btw, are you on 34c3?
  44. lovetox no :/
  45. marc Too bad
  46. rom1dep iť seems mY keboard issues aren'ť improing as e go ťoards gajim 1;0
  47. rom1dep ťhis is ho I ťpe using ťhe laťesť nighťl on indos;
  48. rom1dep (I'm not making it up, that really is what gajim yields on windows with my keymap)
  49. lovetox so what keyboard layout is it?
  50. lovetox so i can reproduce it
  51. rom1dep
  52. rom1dep lovetox: ⬆
  53. rom1dep lovetox: it has regressed since last time, apparently (I didn't have these wiggly extra apostrophes, and all letters were coming), but this time at least, I can revert to a working layout by using window's "French (France)" default locale. Very strange though (no other app/toolkit is affected).
  54. lovetox i will try it
  55. lovetox and will see if i can reproduce it with a minimal gtk testcase, to see if gajim is at fault
  56. lovetox Gajim in nightly always uses a really recent version
  57. lovetox of GTK
  58. lovetox i doubt other apps ship the newest gtk version
  59. lovetox they develope against one, and ship that as long as everything works
  60. rom1dep ok, that might explain the difference, then, if it's a moving+unstable target.
  61. lovetox either way i will see if i can reproduce it
  62. rom1dep lovetox: do you by chance have builds against released versions?
  63. rom1dep released/stable
  64. lovetox currently nightly uses 3.22.26
  65. lovetox i think its released
  66. lovetox but i think the gtk updates in gtk3 end now anyway
  67. lovetox as gtk4 is on the door
  68. rom1dep so which one will gajim 1.0 ship with?
  69. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>: *2c4c6106* <> Make sure our own JID is in the DB
  70. lovetox probably 3.22.26
  71. marc lovetox, should we use xmpp-client SRV records for direct TLS connections for backward-compability too?
  72. marc At the moment I have two hard-coded SRV records for 5222 (TLS) and 5223 (direct TLS/SSL) for the given hostname if SRV is not available
  73. marc If SRV is available I use xmpp-client for TLS and xmpps-client for direct TLS only
  74. marc Git master uses the xmpp-client SRV record to test for direct TLS connections too
  75. marc Asterix, you can answer too, of course :)
  76. debacle Antonio Ospite found a typo in a db column name (
  77. debacle ./gajim/common/ ADD COLUMN 'additinal_data' TEXT default '()';'''
  78. debacle There's an "o" missing, but the rest of the code uses correct spelling.

  82. pep. gajim-git e7d1a2d51
  83. bot steffi created an issue in _gajim_ <>: #8808: <Gajim crashed after deactivating accounts>
  84. pep. hmm, maybe that's been fixed already, I remember this
  85. bot steffi modified an issue in _gajim_ <>: #8807: <Messages are sent several times when JID ends with "!">
  86. pep. works now!
  87. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>: *9411ccd8* <> Fix DB migration for additional_data
  88. sergio Hello again, I have read in changelog of the new release than muc now supports mam, but I don't see those messages. Could be something related with my config?
  89. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>: *65593c61* <> Fix undefined var
  90. lovetox sergio, account -> advanced -> server info
  91. lovetox look if mam is enabled
  92. sergio yes, mam is enabled
  93. lovetox how do you determine if its working or not?
  94. lovetox it will only work from now on for the future
  95. sergio oh, I think I could retrieve the previous messages
  96. lovetox only from now on
  97. sergio lovetox, thanks
  98. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>: *1b11d770* <> MAM: Dont convert own_jid to string We need it later as JID object

  101. Citizen hello everyone
  102. lovetox hi
  103. Asterix lovetox, about additinOnaldata field, we should also updae already updated DB, no?
  104. lovetox i did, i added it to the 0.98.2 migration
  105. Asterix ho ok nice
  106. Asterix strange we never saw that...
  107. Asterix it's not used in any plugin is it?
  108. lovetox its internally used in gajim, for oob data on a message
  109. lovetox we store the oob data in that field
  110. Asterix ok. but as we never receive oob data, we never saw the problem right?
  111. lovetox the migration for oob field is months old and was correct
  112. lovetox so everybody upgraded correctly
  113. lovetox 2 weeks ago in your db refactoring you introduced the typo
  114. Asterix ha it's for newly created DB only
  115. Asterix ho so I did introduced it then?
  116. lovetox so this is not old, and not many people upgraded from this old version of database
  117. lovetox until now where debian people upgraded
  118. Asterix yep ok
  119. Asterix so a alpha2 release would be nice then
  120. lovetox yes debacle asked for it :)
  121. lovetox i fixed a few other bugs also
  122. Asterix yep I Saw
  123. Asterix I'll release that this evening then
  124. bot Yann Leboulanger pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>: *ec2da20f* <> add transient_for parameter
  125. Asterix marc: I'd say that if there is a SRV record, we should follow it. So xmpp-client -> startTLS (+ plain), and xmmps-client -> direct TLS
  126. marc Asterix, yes, I just read the XEP again and that's what the XEP says :)
  127. bot Yann Leboulanger pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _website_ <>: *6231239b* <> update website for 1.0.0-alpha2

  129. Citizen Zibb first things first: the gajim alpha looks amazing (rendering of the fonts, etc) on windows
  130. Citizen Zibb I'm currently using it on a hidpi display
  131. Citizen Zibb its a night and day difference over previous versions
  132. Citizen Zibb I also noticed the layout of some things is a bit different
  133. Citizen Zibb It is a wonderful surprise
  134. Asterix Thanks
  135. Citizen Zibb there are some bug popups but the ones ive tried to report so far have already been reported
  136. Citizen Zibb the plugins will no doubt need to be updated
  137. Asterix Citizen Zibb, install the new plugin installer and they will be updated too
  138. Citizen Zibb Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:/msys64/home/appveyor/gajim/win/_build_root/mingw32/lib/python3.6/site-packages/gajim/data/plugins/plugin_installer/", line 362, in select_root_iter UnboundLocalError: local variable 'path' referenced before assignment
  139. Asterix Citizen Zibb, How did you do that?
  140. Citizen Zibb opened plugin installer, went to available, and pressed installe/upgrade
  141. Citizen Zibb i see 2 of each plugin
  142. Asterix is it possible that nothing was selected?
  143. Citizen Zibb i see 2 of each plugin all same version
  144. Asterix a restart may be needed afer you updated all plugins
  145. Citizen Zibb lets give it a shot
  146. Citizen Zibb plugin list cleared up
  147. Citizen Zibb omemo plugin throwing up an error message when trying to clear devices

  149. Citizen Zibb very good
  150. Citizen Zibb the translation plugin does not seem to translate what I am writing into german
  151. Asterix which translation plugin?
  152. Asterix "Plugins translation"
  153. Asterix ?
  154. Citizen Zibb google translation
  155. Citizen Zibb sorry if I was ambiguous
  156. Asterix description says: Translates (currently only incoming) messages using Google Translate.
  157. Asterix so only incoming
  158. Citizen Zibb its not doing that either
  159. Asterix never used that plugin ... so maybe not correcty ported. You have error messages?
  160. Citizen Zibb none at all
  161. Asterix then please open an issue
  162. Citizen Zibb sure
  163. Asterix
  164. Asterix lovetox, any idea for omemo plugin?
  165. lovetox hm
  166. lovetox seems like its still the old plugin
  167. Citizen Zibb i figured it was just growing pains :)
  168. lovetox ah no
  169. lovetox its the correct one
  170. lovetox its a valid bug
  171. lovetox but this comes only if you hit the clear devices button or?
  172. lovetox ah you said that already
  173. Citizen Zibb actually whether refresh or clear
  174. lovetox yeah i fix that
  175. bot Citizen Zibb created an issue in _gajim-plugins_ <>: #248: <Google Translation plugin>
  176. Citizen Zibb what did you guys do differently to antialias the text?
  177. Citizen Zibb I'm curious
  178. Asterix maintly GTK2 -> GTk3
  179. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 2 commits to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim-plugins_ <>: *93e9194c* <> [omemo] Fix clearing devices *f0319128* <> [omemo] Update CHANGELOG & manifest.ini
  180. Citizen Zibb Do you know, I was going to try to make a settings.ini file to try and antialias? hahaha
  181. lovetox =)
  182. lovetox no gtk can deal much better with hidpi
  183. Citizen Zibb lovetox, gonna try it now
  184. lovetox though many of the icons are still low dpi, we fix that in the coming weeks
  185. Citizen Zibb lovetox, I was going to make a gtk settings.ini trying to enable rgb hinting lol
  186. Citizen Zibb futile effort haah
  187. Citizen Zibb clear devices works, lovetox
  188. Asterix alpha2 available
  189. Citizen Zibb install it or no, in your opinion?
  190. Citizen Zibb and is it available for windows
  191. Asterix yes
  192. Asterix and yes
  193. Citizen Zibb (will update my linux/bsd boxes accordingly)
  194. Citizen Zibb be back in a jiff
  195. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 3 commits to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>:
  196. Citizen Zibb new alpha doesnt show on windows download page
  197. Asterix ho ...
  198. Asterix fixed
  199. debacle alpha2 is in Debian unstable now
  200. Asterix wonderfull
  201. Asterix Thanks!
  202. Citizen Zibb updated
  203. Citizen Zibb 0.98.1
  204. Asterix alpha2 is 0.98.2
  205. Citizen Zibb wtf did i do? be right back
  206. debacle if you installed from Debian unstable, it might still be the old version. archive mirrors need to sync all over the planet, which needs some hours
  207. debacle depending on which mirror you got, you might still get 0.98.1 / 1.0.0~alpha1.
  208. Citizen Zibb im trying to remove it and its telling me that the uninstaller cant be found, etc
  209. Asterix Some of you use the GTK3 version and zeroconf?
  210. Asterix or would like to test that?
  211. Citizen Zibb ok this is weird
  212. Citizen Zibb i just installed from the windows link
  213. Citizen Zibb and when i go into gajim, help -> about
  214. Citizen Zibb it reports 0.98.1
  215. Citizen Zibb even though I am certain i removed all traces of past executable
  216. Citizen Zibb
  217. Asterix hmm I don't have windows right now to verify that ... lovetox, you have?
  218. Citizen Zibb debacle, thanks for that information but I am trying to fix the windows thing
  219. Citizen Zibb honestly I hate having to use windows, but as I am not allowed to run anything else because of fascist business practices on this laptop, I must endure
  220. lovetox hmm
  221. Asterix give me 5 minutes, I re-d/l it and check. I may have put the wrong one ...
  222. lovetox no i can check
  223. Asterix I went to last appveyor build page ... so maybe I downloaded the artifact from there by mistake
  224. Citizen Zibb It is not the end of the world, friend. I am amazed at the responsiveness of you and your team so far!
  225. Asterix installer version or portable version?
  226. Citizen Zibb installer version
  227. lovetox portable seems fine
  228. Asterix yeah ok ...
  229. Asterix not the correct one
  230. Asterix re-uploading ...
  231. Asterix 2 minutes left ...
  232. lovetox yeah portable is fine
  233. lovetox but installer is old
  234. Asterix ok thanks
  235. Asterix sorry ...
  236. Citizen Zibb Asterix, don't apologize! Just let us know when it's ready. This is awesome!
  237. Asterix 15 seconds ...
  238. Asterix done
  239. Asterix should be ok now
  240. Asterix if some linux users what to try pyzeroconf, please use my branch:
  241. Asterix GN guys
  242. mimi89999 Asterix: Bonsoir
  243. Citizen Zibb Asterix, good night, and thanks for all the hard work
