Gajim - 2017-11-25

  1. concerto Has there been some change in LMC? Corrected messages sent from Gajim sometimes show up as new messages in Conversations.
  2. rom1dep could it be that, having two accounts, if I receive messages from account 1, then disable account 1 without ack these messages, I have no way to get rid of the "new messages" symbol (envelope) in the tray?
  3. ThibG concerto: in MUCs?
  4. concerto ThibG: no, one-on-one
  5. zuglufttier I have the feeling that gajim silently break if the server restarts. Some things like mam don't seem to work again after the server restarted.
  6. ThibG concerto, hm, ok, I don't know then
  7. Link Mauve Ah, once again had: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/gajim/", line 5623, in query_tooltip tooltip.populate(connected_contacts, account, typ) File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/gajim/", line 550, in populate self.contact_jid = self.prim_contact.jid AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'jid'
  8. Link Mauve While hovering the roster during connection, it seems.

  10. zuglufttier lovetox, GTK3 menus are looking good now!
  11. zuglufttier Excellent work.
  12. lovetox lets not exaggerate :)
  13. SaltyBones Well, let's just say you are our favorite gajim maintainer. ;)
  14. zuglufttier Gajim with gtk2 was a flashback to the 90s. Now it's not looking anymore like a project that has died ten years ago.
  15. lovetox =)
  16. sergio Can someone share a screenshot with the new look in gtk3?
  17. lovetox
  18. sergio lovetox: thanks! Looks great!
  19. mimi89999
  20. mimi89999 lovetox: Gajim has some issues with my dark gnome theme.
  21. sergio mimi89999: the menu is diferent than lovetox menu
  22. mimi89999 Yes
  23. lovetox because he is using linux, and im windows
  24. sergio I prefer, mimi89999 screnshot but there are some issues with dark theme yes
  25. concerto yikes
  26. Link Mauve lovetox, thanks for the comment, !158 is ready. :)
  27. mimi89999 They could be fixed by creating a Gajim theme with the same colors.
  28. concerto Just logged in from Gajim, and in place of all the messages sent and received today in an OMEMO MUC is the dreaded "I sent you an OMEMO encrypted message but your client doesn’t seem to support that. Find more information on"
  29. concerto (all of them were sent from Conversations)
  30. pep. OMEMO plugin loaded?
  31. mimi89999 For me OMEMO just works... People around me are reporting all sort of issues with it....
  32. concerto pep.: loaded, active, but for some reason I don't see the fish button
  33. pep. Any errors?
  34. concerto pep.: I just got one from the plugin installer
  35. concerto let me see if restarting gajim fixes anything
  36. concerto Bizarre
  37. concerto Some messages are still not there (and there's the fallback message instead)
  38. concerto Others appeared after the restart
  39. lovetox sure the contact trusts your device?
  40. lovetox tell him to send a message
  41. concerto lovetox: this is a very long-running MUC, I can be 99% sure there wasn't any trust or device change.
  42. concerto lovetox: ah. It looks like for each message that anyone sent, I'm also shown the fallback body (even though the message *was* successfully received and decrypted).
  43. lovetox so you are not missing a message
  44. concerto Yeah
  45. lovetox concerto sorry that this is not working as reliable as it shoud, but i made many improvements with omemo in gajim master, also it supports now mam for mucs
  46. lovetox how can i follow a symbolic link in linux?
  47. lovetox properties shows me not where the file is
  48. concerto lovetox: ls <symlink> should show it
  49. concerto something like "<linkname> -> <destname>"
  50. concerto lovetox: this fallback-shown-even-if-message-was-decrypted thing seems to happen only for messages I got when I wasn't logged into Gajim (MAM, right?)
  51. lovetox concerto, what gajim version are you using?
  52. concerto gajim-default-nightly, v0.16.11.2
  53. lovetox oh, hm k then this is a new bug
  54. lovetox i look into it when we display the message
  55. concerto dpkg -l shows the version as 20171123-1
  56. lovetox is it, fallback message, then real message
  57. lovetox like alternating
  58. lovetox in history?
  59. concerto lovetox: it seems as though when it's a message I sent, my message is shown first and then the fallback; it's the other way round when it's something someone else sends.
  60. lovetox can you tell me what the fallback message is exactly
  61. lovetox hm and are we sure that muc has mam?
  62. lovetox can you see that with conversations?
  63. concerto lovetox: I quoted it above - "I sent you an OMEMO encrypted message but your client doesn’t seem to support that. Find more information on"
  64. concerto lovetox: how can I check? And these fallback messages don't appear in Conversations (atleast, not on mine)
  65. lovetox hm but maybe in the menu there is something like room info
  66. lovetox where it shows if the room has mam
  67. lovetox but im not sure, maybe this does not exsit
  68. zuglufttier By the way, if I use Adwaita-dark as a theme, everything is looking as expected.

  76. ThibG Spare my mailbox!!
  77. Asterix I added some more templates for several kind of events. Don't hesitate to tell me if you see wrong messages
  78. Asterix ThibG, yes I know ...
  79. Asterix ThibG, sorry
  80. Asterix I stop now. it works
  81. ThibG Alright, no big deal ;)
  82. Asterix it's why I choose this ticket. I prefer to spam you than an unknown user ;)
  83. Asterix when changing icon theme, roster is not correctly re-rendered
  84. lovetox yes Asterix, with the refactoring of the icons this is solved
  85. lovetox but i have to finish my MR
  86. Asterix Ok nice
  87. bot Joe Johnson created an issue in _gajim_ <>: #8788: <Gajim uses deprecated python module causing crash>
  88. bot Philipp Hörist proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ <>: Refactor SpellChecker
  89. Link Mauve What is the difference between GtkSpell and Gspell?
  90. lovetox GtkSpell seems to be older and was "external" what ever that means, later gnome people made their own thing Gspell
  91. Link Mauve I see.
  92. lovetox Gspell has a better API in my opionion, less code, and GtkSpell is not updated since 2-3 years, and i had many crashes with it, if you connect it in the wrong way, seems very fragile and prone to memory leaks
  93. bot Link Mauve commented on Merge Request #159: "Refactor SpellChecker" of _gajim_ <>: Should be pass instead, this variable is already defined on line 256.
  94. lovetox even comments on MRs now, i dont know if i like the new bot ^^
  95. Link Mauve Btw, the name of the project is Gspell, not gir1.2-gspell-1, which is a debian-ism.
  96. bot Philipp Hörist proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ <>: Refactor SpellChecker
  97. lovetox i know but we have this all around gajim
  98. Link Mauve Otherwise, LGTM!
  99. lovetox maybe we change that for everything :)
  100. lovetox do you have to update the arch package?
  101. Link Mauve Yeah, I will.
  102. Link Mauve It’s gspell there.
  103. bot Philipp Hörist proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ <>: Refactor SpellChecker
  104. lovetox so now it says Gspell
  105. Link Mauve Sounds better.
  106. lovetox rom1dep, in tomorrows windows nightly spellchecking should work
  107. lovetox but for now only german, english, french
  108. lovetox if someone needs additional languages we can add them
  109. Link Mauve How heavy is one language?
  110. lovetox 1-2 MB if you only take one dialect of each language
  111. lovetox lets say en_US is 1.5 mb
  112. lovetox but if i would add en_AU, en_NZ
  113. lovetox and so on
  114. lovetox we get soon to 30 mb
  115. Link Mauve Ow.
  116. Link Mauve I’m glad my OS has a package manager.
  117. Link Mauve Although hmm, couldn’t you use Gajim’s plugin mechanism for that?
  118. lovetox ... i could, but one thing leads to another, then i would want to hide these packages on linux, i have to code that they go into a different path then plugins and so on ..
  119. lovetox but yeah i thought about it
  120. lovetox but for now this has to do
  121. Link Mauve Yup.
  122. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 2 commits to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim_ <>:
  123. bot Philipp Hörist proposed a new merge request for _gajim/master_ <>: Refactor SpellChecker
  124. lovetox the bot should only tell us about a new MR
  125. lovetox not everytime i update it
  126. lovetox so next thing will be opening xmpp uris
  127. Link Mauve lovetox, how do you enable spell-checking?
  128. lovetox preferences - General
  129. lovetox highlight misspelled word
