Gajim - 2017-09-07

  1. azarus I'm running Gajim 0.16.8 on windows, and I enabled the ✓ symbol when a message is received. Sadly, it appears as a box, indicating that a symbol is missing. The ✓ itself works in other programs, like chrome.
  2. pep. How does gajim behave when a contact is not sending chatstates? Does it continue sending them?
  3. pep. I'm using poezio and I'm not sending them, and I have a contact apparently stuck on "composing", that could be it? Maybe poezio should just not display anything when I don't want them, or maybe it'd be nice if that contact could not be "stuck" composing (but just active) :p

  5. pep. He's running gajim master
  6. vanitasvitae Hi!
  7. vanitasvitae I just logged into a server which presented me with a certificate error. Unfortunately I just ticked the "ignore" checkbox and proceeded without paying too much attention to the error message. Is there a way to force gajim to show that message again, or to display, what is/was wrong with the cert?
  8. mimi89999 vanitasvitae: Yes
  9. mimi89999 vanitasvitae: There was something in account settings you need to click
  10. vanitasvitae mimi89999, there is "warn before using insecure connection", but that is ticked and has no effect in this case
  11. mimi89999 vanitasvitae: Nothing about cert? I don't have Gajim in front of me...
  12. vanitasvitae nope...
  13. lovetox vanitasvitae, yes in advanced config
  14. lovetox azarus, that might be because your standard font does not support that symbol
  15. lovetox try changing the font in preferences -> style
  16. vanitasvitae lovetox: ah, ill take a look
  17. lovetox there is a setting
  18. lovetox ignore_ssl_errors
  19. lovetox it should be empty to show all errors
  20. mrDoctorWho Hi. Why does gajim not receive mam messages on startup? It usually does after a long time, I still havent figured out what is the reason for that
  21. mrDoctorWho My server supports mam:2
  22. mrDoctorWho My server supports mam:2 only
  23. lovetox it does at start
  24. lovetox you can see that in the xml console
  25. lovetox maybe you have windows open at start, mam messages are never written to a window
  26. lovetox so maybe you think you receive them when reopening the window
  27. mrDoctorWho doesn't seem to be happening after I disabled mam:0 and mam:1
  28. vanitasvitae lovetox thanks that helped :)
  29. mrDoctorWho I have history with a contact for today, but the last history appears in the history manage is from September 3rd
  30. mrDoctorWho I have history with a contact for today, but the last history appears in the history manager is from September 3rd
  31. lovetox you mean history window?
  32. lovetox not history manager?
  33. mrDoctorWho oops, sorry, yes
  34. lovetox are you sure?
  35. lovetox there is a history manager in gajim
  36. mrDoctorWho yes, I am sure. I click the button in the chat window
  37. lovetox ok
  38. lovetox if its not in there we didnt receive it
  39. lovetox so maybe an encryption problem?
  40. mrDoctorWho this particular chat wasn't encrypted
  41. mrDoctorWho I never encrypt chats with this contact
  42. lovetox and you are using master nightly?
  43. mrDoctorWho no, 0.16.8
  44. lovetox 0.16.8 does not support mam:2
  45. mrDoctorWho whoah, that's it then
  46. mrDoctorWho so, assuming I'm using Fedora, I should build gajim from source?
  47. lovetox yeah i dont think we have a package there
  48. lovetox or you just enable mam:1
  49. lovetox there is no reason to disable it, you and your users dont gain anything from mam:2
  50. lovetox at least with using gajim
  51. mrDoctorWho actually I did gain something
  52. mrDoctorWho not sure if it's actual now
  53. mrDoctorWho I'm using prosody and there was a bug that the mam module was doing count(*) on a large database
  54. mrDoctorWho it wasn't fixed in community mam module which provides mam:1 and mam:0
  55. mrDoctorWho thank you kindly for the help, lovetox
  56. lovetox if you are using OTR its not supported in master
  57. lovetox and database is changed, so i dont advice to swtich back and forth between 0.16.8 and master
  58. lovetox this is untested
  59. lovetox so if you switch i would make a backup just in case if you have something important you want to save
  60. mrDoctorWho I'd probably go for mam:0, just need to make sure that the performance issues were fixed
  61. lovetox .

  63. SABer hello
  64. SABer is it possible to create an OMEMO crypted multi user chat room with gajim?
  65. mimi89999 SABer: Yes
  66. SABer hi mimi
  67. SABer i tried but OMEMO is not working in a MUC i created with gaijm
  68. SABer installed OMEMO plugin v1 via apt-get and than updated manual to the latest version
  69. mimi89999 SABer: Is that MUC private and non-anonymous?
  70. SABer non-anonymous? i tested with a friend (so it was private) and we had keys already accepted. direct message OMEMO works with him.
  71. lovetox SABer, it non-anonymous if you set the config option in the rrom
  72. lovetox SABer, it non-anonymous if you set the config option in the room
  73. lovetox you have to go to the room config
  74. lovetox then set, show real jid to everyone
  75. lovetox then rejoin the room
  76. lovetox room config you find in the preference symbol on the chat window
  77. SABer seems to work. thank you very much.
  78. SABer (Y)
