  14. Darlan Which is GTK+2?
  15. mimi89999 master branch in the repo is GTK3
  16. bioxz Hey guys! Does anyone know a way to automatically show chat history in the chat window? While using multiple devices, the history syncs fine with gajim (I can see it in the history), but I would like to see the messages in the chat window too
  17. SaltyBones bioxz, there is "restore_lines" in the advanced config editor
  18. SaltyBones is that what you re looking for?
  19. bioxz Sound interesting, I'll try that, Thank you!
  20. bioxz Oh, no, that's not helping i think. It is already set to 30 lines
  21. SaltyBones oh okay
  22. SaltyBones so does it simply not work or does it do something else?
  23. bioxz Maybe I can give an example: When I disconnect this Gajim (due to network loss on a mobile computer), chat in the meantime via other deives and reconnect after that, the missed chat is not shown in the Gajim chat window
  24. SaltyBones ah yes
  25. SaltyBones i think that s a known issue
  26. mdosch I can confirm this
  27. bioxz I can see it in the history and would like to just show the complete history (last 30 lines or so) in the chat windows, but it seems to be a one way thing
  28. bioxz I couldn't find a ticket for that bug/feature wish (not sure if one could call that a bug)
  29. SaltyBones yeah, can't find an issue either maybe create one
  30. SaltyBones I know lovetox is aware of this problem but maybe nobody ever bothered to create an issue.
  31. bioxz I have to admit that I'm not sure how to describe that problems. Synchronized history is not shown as chat history (restore_lines) in a chat window?
  32. bioxz *in an open window. When I close and reopen the windows, the history is there
  33. SaltyBones closing and reopening the window helps??
  34. bioxz Yeah, when the window is opened again, the full history is shown.
  35. bioxz Messages only go missing from the chat window when it is open and gajim is not receiving the messages (computer in standby/no network)
  36. SaltyBones ah ok
  37. SaltyBones so there would have to be some sort of update
  38. bioxz Maybe a reload routine after a server reconnection would be enough
  39. librejoker short question: i use linux, is there a way to start gajim minimized?
  40. bioxz librejoker, Minimized or in tray?
  41. bioxz librejoker, A have no idea if gajim can do that, but most window managers should be able to do that
  42. librejoker in tray would be prefered
  43. bioxz There is a "Show roster on startup" option, maybe that one?
  44. librejoker will try
  45. librejoker yes that worked. thank you. bioxz
  46. lovetox Its because all messages received via MAM (what happens if you go offline and chat withanother device)
  47. lovetox are not written into the window, only into the DB
  48. lovetox i think we are able now to change this soonish
  49. bot Yann Leboulanger pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/master_ of _gajim-plugins_ <https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins>: *3bf7dddc* <https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/commit/3bf7dddc8b0230682a964cb38db858a23636a263> fix checking updates
  50. Asterix lovetox, Hi, Renaming a contact doesn't update the accout menu leading to tracebacks there
  51. lovetox you mean renaming an account?
  52. Asterix yes sorry
  53. lovetox indeed i didnt account for that
  54. lovetox generelly having the account name as identifier everywhere in gajim, and letting the user change it needs a lot of code, where we reset the name everywhere
  55. Asterix yes
  56. Asterix there is a function for that
  57. lovetox instead we could generate on adding an account a random account ID, and letting the user just set a account name, thats only used on the exterior but not internally by gajim
  58. lovetox do you see a problem with that proposal somewhere?
  59. lovetox like now gajim takes the domain as account name, instead we could randomly create an ID, and create some config setting for the User chosen name, that defaults to the domain
  60. Asterix how will it help for menu for example?
  61. Asterix we still have to rebuild it after rename
  62. lovetox yes in some way or another we would have to update it. of course just triggerin a rebuild will fix the problem and for short term i will add this to the "account rename" method
  63. lovetox the proposal was more general, because the way we do it right now, with chaning all kinds of values everywhere, is very error prone
  64. lovetox i had this problem with omemo, omemo creates a db for each account you use it with
  65. lovetox but how to identify correct DB to use, if the user can change the name of the account
  66. lovetox i needed something that is tied to the account forever
  67. lovetox i resorted to use the JID as name for the DB
  68. Asterix yep I see. you can get the jid
  69. lovetox because its very unlikely to change
  70. Asterix and that's nice because you can remove and re-add te accoutn you keep the db
  71. lovetox yes indeed
  72. Asterix for the account unique id ...
  73. Asterix gajim-remote use accoutn name. We can't ask users to know the ID
  74. lovetox this would not work, though one could argue that its not a real feature, if you delete an account that not all data associated to it is also deleted
  75. Asterix so we'll need a methode to get the account id from the account name
  76. Asterix I'll think more about that. time to sleep for now
