Gajim - 2017-05-05

  1. SaltyBones so I installed nbxmpp from git
  2. SaltyBones but my gajim from git says Gajim needs python-nbxmpp to run. Quitting…
  3. SaltyBones however running python and importing nbxmpp works fine
  4. SaltyBones anybody got an idea what might be wrong?
  5. Link Mauve SaltyBones, 2 or 3?
  6. SaltyBones python3
  7. steff Hi. May somebody can help me. I'm trying to install the omemo plugin and get "Warning: You are missing Python-Axolotl or use an outdated version". I'm using Manjaro latest release and python-axolotl 0.1.39-1 is installed.
  8. SaltyBones Link Mauve, shouldn't git always use py3 anyway?
  9. Link Mauve SaltyBones, on master yeah, on 0.16 no.
  10. SaltyBones yeah
  11. SaltyBones where is lovetox when you need him? :p
  12. SaltyBones lovetox, \o/
  13. SaltyBones ‎[09:36:48] ‎SaltyBones‎: so I installed nbxmpp from git ‎[09:37:01] ‎SaltyBones‎: but my gajim from git says Gajim needs python-nbxmpp to run. Quitting… ‎[09:37:11] ‎SaltyBones‎: however running python and importing nbxmpp works fine
  14. lovetox SaltyBones, if it say you need nbxmpp its obviously not installed where python search its
  15. SaltyBones any advice?
  16. lovetox how did you install it?
  17. SaltyBones but I can import it...
  18. SaltyBones got it from git and then setup.py
  19. lovetox what version do you want to run?
  20. lovetox 0.16 or master?
  21. SaltyBones master
  22. lovetox so i hope you did "python3 setup.py install
  23. SaltyBones i did not
  24. SaltyBones I intuitively get that this might not work but I'm surprised my "can I import it" check failed.
  25. lovetox did you test with python3 if you can import it?
  26. lovetox or python2
  27. SaltyBones no 3, of course
  28. lovetox and it worked?
  29. SaltyBones yeah
  30. SaltyBones even showed the changed path when i did print(nbxmpp)
  31. lovetox what do you mean with changed path
  32. lovetox in what dir did you start python3 ? if you start it in the location where the package was cloned, python might import it just because its in the dir
  33. SaltyBones Hm
  34. SaltyBones Possible
  35. lovetox so does it now work ?
  36. lovetox with python3 setup.py install
  37. lovetox but to make this more easy for you in the future, there is really no reason to run from git
  38. lovetox except you want to develop
  39. lovetox we have nightlys for that
  40. lovetox just do apt-get install python3-nbxmpp-nightly
  41. lovetox steff: which gajim version are you running
  42. lovetox and are you sure you installed python-axolotl for the right python version

  44. lovetox yeah i know, i havent had time to find whats the problem with that
  45. sunn94 Do I need to install python first to install gajim? (Windows user)
  46. lovetox no
  47. lovetox just download the exe and install it
  48. lovetox https://gajim.org/downloads/0.16/gajim-0.16.7-1.exe
  49. sunn94 Done
  50. lovetox go to edit -> Plugins, and install the omemo plugin and httpuploaad
  51. lovetox then activate both
  52. lovetox and restart gajim
  53. lovetox im going watching some tv im back in an hour
