  7. mrDoctorWho Hi everyone. Do anyone else having the problem with sharing files with HTTP File Upload? I have two systems where it just crashes while uploading a file
  8. arune mrDoctorWho: gajim craches?
  9. arune Try an account on
  10. arune Which gajim version?
  11. mrDoctorWho 0.16.5
  12. mrDoctorWho I don't think that's anyhow related to the server software
  13. mrDoctorWho as long as I know it's a gtk problem
  14. mrDoctorWho Gdk:ERROR:/build/gtk+2.0-KsZKkB/gtk+2.0-2.24.30/gdk/gdkregion-generic.c:1206:miUnionO: assertion failed: (pReg->numRects<=pReg->size) ** Gdk:ERROR:/build/gtk+2.0-KsZKkB/gtk+2.0-2.24.30/gdk/gdkregion-generic.c:1123:miUnionNonO: assertion failed: (pReg->numRects<=pReg->size)
  15. arune mrDoctorWho, oh, which system are you running gajim on?
  16. mrDoctorWho arune, arch linux and ubuntu 16.04
  17. arune httpupload plugin version 0.4.1 ?
  18. mrDoctorWho yes
  19. arune mrDoctorWho, file upload or image upload or both?
  20. mrDoctorWho both
  21. arune I'm running Ubuntu 16.04, gajim 0.16.6, plugin v0.4.1 and upload images without any crach
  22. arune do you have a traceback?
  23. mrDoctorWho it's not a python error
  24. bot pushed commits to branch __ of _gajim_ <>:
  25. arune Asterix: i don't get any gajim icon/image on
  26. arune I get 404 for the file
  27. tristank Is someone running gajim on hidpi display (3000x2000) in Gnome? Is there a solution for the tiny symbols? Maybe adujsting the scale factor?
  28. lovetox probably tristank have to look into
  29. lovetox mrDoctorWho, are you using a server with a self signed certificate?
  30. lovetox because that will crash the plugin right now
  31. mrDoctorWho lovetox, nope
  32. mrDoctorWho it crashes from time to time
  33. mrDoctorWho mostly on big files
  34. mrDoctorWho more than 500kb for example
  35. lovetox so not always
  36. lovetox could still be a server issue
  37. lovetox of course the plugin should not crash
  38. tristank lovetox, thanks
  39. lovetox but i have no problems on sending bigger files
  40. mrDoctorWho lovetox, it seems to be a common gdk problem, google says
  41. lovetox is the server running prosody?
  42. lovetox or could you share the server your account is on, so i can reproduce this?
  43. lovetox the plugin works good normally, but it almost crashes on any error
  44. lovetox prosody as multiple httpupload mods
  45. lovetox some of them work better than other
  46. lovetox also in httpfile upload mod there is a maxfilesize setting on the server
  47. lovetox i dont know what the plugin does when the server reports a to big file, probably crash ^^
  48. tristank for illustration of the scale issue:
  49. lovetox thanks tristank i will look into it if i have time, is this on mac?
  50. tristank no ubuntu gnome.
  51. tristank Kernel: 4.6.7+ x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: Gnome 3.20.4 Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial
  52. tristank the text is scaled correctly, but the buttons are tiny
  53. mrDoctorWho I will as soon as I get to home
  54. mrDoctorWho Im actually still using a deprecated httpuploadcomponent with Apache 2 as proxy
  55. lovetox im not an expert on prosody, but i know there is one that works not good causes huge memory leaks etc, and on that is working better
  56. lovetox *one
  57. mrDoctorWho Its not a big file for the sever
  58. mrDoctorWho There are much higher limits
  59. arune mrDoctorWho: are there any strange chars in the filename?
  60. mrDoctorWho Of course not
  61. mrDoctorWho It crashes during the upload process
  62. mrDoctorWho The progressbar acts weird though
  63. lovetox im interested in debugging this, but you would have to supply me with a test account of your server
  64. mrDoctorWho That's not a problem
  65. lovetox nice i will contact you in the evening once iam home
  66. mrDoctorWho lovetox: what time is it for you now?
  67. lovetox 12:45
  68. mrDoctorWho Well your evening is gonna be my really early morning
  69. mrDoctorWho I'll give you the credentials and you test it when you're free
  70. lovetox thanks
  71. Darlan Welcome back, mrDoctorWho :)
  72. mrDoctorWho Hey Darlan. I'm finally a regular gajim user
  73. Link Mauve Hey Darlan, welcome back. ^^
  74. Darlan Thanks!
  75. jere lovetox: the new snap for windows works good! 👍 (0.16.6 2017-01-10).

  78. lovetox äm i didnt change anything Oo wtf is going on, jere
  79. lovetox mrDoctorWho, i found the problem
  80. lovetox the plugin is at fault
  81. lovetox i release a update in a few hours
  82. jere lovetox: It seems you did only 1 commit between the 2 portable snap builds: "Use correct gnupg package for windows build". 01-09 does not start and 01-10 works well.
  83. jere (for me at least) I have both installed now.
  84. bot Philipp Hörist pushed 1 commit to branch _refs/heads/gajim_0.16_ of _gajim_ <>: *bae08ea1* <> Remove line breaks from version string
  85. Link Mauve lovetox, I had a better fix in master. :/
  86. lovetox i just saw ^^
  87. lovetox but why does strip() remove line breaks
  88. lovetox it only talks about whitespace
  89. lovetox in the doc
  90. lovetox but i dont know if its better
  91. lovetox i dont think we will ever get chars from git rev-parse that are not ascii
  92. lovetox so decoding utf-8 here is useless
  93. lovetox i didnt know though that strip removes \n
  94. Link Mauve lovetox, because a \n is whitespace?
  95. lovetox would be indeed better ^^
  96. Link Mauve lovetox, if you make a branch named in UTF-8 you’ll get that out.
  97. lovetox i thought that is a whitespace ' '
  98. lovetox :D
  99. Link Mauve No, that is a space.
  100. Link Mauve There are a ton more whitespaces characters.
  101. Link Mauve Like “ ” or “ ” or “ ”.
  102. lovetox what does the branch name in utf8 have to do with the SHA number of a commit
  103. lovetox i think python can decode if no utf8 chars are in it even if the value is utf8 encoded
  104. lovetox utf8 doesnt ecode ascii different, at least i think i read that somewhere
  105. Link Mauve Oh, it’s only the sha1 currently? That should be fixed to also include the branch name imo.
  106. lovetox the version number reflects the branch
  107. Link Mauve Nope.
  108. lovetox yes :)
  109. Link Mauve Well, no.
  110. Link Mauve You can’t know which branch it was if the user doesn’t specify it.
  111. lovetox i would worry about that if we had more than one working master branch
  112. lovetox but i dont think we have
  113. Link Mauve I always work on a separate branch from master.
  114. Link Mauve You seem to work only on a single dev branch, that’s already an indication you are not on master for example.
  115. lovetox no i have many branches
  116. lovetox as you can see in my merge request
  117. lovetox s
  118. lovetox but i dont know why another dev needs to know the name i chose for my branch
  119. Link Mauve It’s useful for bug reporting, mostly.
  120. Link Mauve Otherwise a commit hash has no value.
  121. lovetox the commit has has only value if someone is on master branch, because otherwise the commit hash means nothing to us or not?
  122. lovetox also the commit hash is only included if user starts gajim from source
  123. Link Mauve Exactly.
