  1. arune linus, did you scare him away? :)
  2. linus Idk, he didn't come here by the looks of it, but did edit some wiki pages.
  3. noon hello
  4. linus Hi!
  5. noon I have a question to the unicode filter: I think it works to "good"
  6. noon For example: unicode flags are filtered or the unicode emoticons
  7. lovetox noon if you are talking about 0.16.5
  8. lovetox it doesnt support unicode emoticons
  9. lovetox because you need a python version thats build with unicode support
  10. noon If it is the "old" release, I do
  11. lovetox which most people dont have
  12. linus lovetox: most people do have Unicode support
  13. linus Just that python 2's Unicode support is a hack
  14. lovetox yeah thats what i mean :)
  15. lovetox http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1446347/how-to-find-out-if-python-is-compiled-with-ucs-2-or-ucs-4
  16. noon I installed the noto emoticon package. After turning off the filter I get the unicode flags and icons just fine
  17. noon I have the default cpython 2.7.12 for windows in x64 with ucs2 support
  18. lovetox and do you start gajim from source?
  19. noon yes. I change stuff so I have a pycharm project for it
  20. noon In the last weeks it was asking myself if I should abandon the "old" release and start working on the "new" one.
  21. lovetox on windows it works great, i use it
  22. lovetox some layout issues, but if you see them they are easily fixed
  23. noon What prevents me of doing so: gtk3 seems to need 3.4. But I'm on 3.5 at the moment and need this release :-/
  24. linus Should work with 3.5 too
  25. lovetox you can install them side by side or not
  26. linus You could also have both
  27. lovetox linus on windows 3.5 is not supported for gtk
  28. linus Huh ok
  29. lovetox on windows there is only v18 available too
  30. linus Is that just the availability of binaries or does it actually not work?
  31. lovetox i didnt try it, i just read that only 3.4 is supported
  32. linus Ah ok
  33. lovetox https://sourceforge.net/projects/pygobjectwin32/
  34. noon ok. I was afarid that i looked wrong and didn't found it...
  35. lovetox but you can still install both
  36. noon Installing python 3.4 and the gtk3 project is all i need?
  37. lovetox the same like you install 2.7 and 3.4 both
  38. noon than i will try it out :-)
  39. lovetox yeah, i would recommend just installing everything from the gtk3 installer
  40. lovetox or try it with the ones i written at the bottom
  41. lovetox https://trac.gajim.org/wiki/Win32Env
  42. lovetox and 32 bit would be saver i gues
  43. noon re
  44. noon I tried the default branch with python 3.4.x and gtk
  45. noon but I get an exception that common.account was not found. this file is not in the repo, or i don't found it
  46. lovetox and?
  47. lovetox hm
  48. noon the file is contacts.py in the folder common. line 35
  49. noon I don't know how to get from hg when a file was deleted or if it existed at all
  50. lovetox https://hg.gajim.org/gajim/file/tip/src/common/account.py
  51. lovetox but it is in the repo
  52. noon hmm... I'm not a hg "crack"
  53. noon in the tortoisehg workbench I see the account.py file
  54. lovetox are you sure you are on the default branch
  55. lovetox hg up default
  56. noon I can't check it out
  57. lovetox make a separate repo for that, dont use the one you are using for gtk2
  58. noon I used my "view only" checkout
  59. noon I don't understand this and have to read the manual..
  60. lovetox you are making this to complicated
  61. lovetox go to workbench
  62. lovetox click clone repo
  63. lovetox clone a new repo to another place on your harddrive
  64. lovetox type in "hg up default"
  65. lovetox and start the application
  66. lovetox if you dont want that it uses the same plugin folder and user data folder like gtk2
  67. lovetox you can start with
  68. lovetox -p portable -c ../DataDir
  69. lovetox for example
  70. noon lovetox, thanks i will try it
  71. sebastian btw. not really a gajim topic, but ...anyone of you knows something like a xmpp-bot that can receive pictures and posts it into some sort of "photo blog" on html/file basis? What i like to do is when i'm on vacation i simply send photos to the jabber bot and it will update a very simple kind of "gallery".
  72. sebastian btw. not really a gajim topic, but ...anyone of you knows something like a xmpp-bot that can receive pictures and posts it into some sort of "photo blog" on html/file basis? What i like to do is when i'm on vacation i simply send photos to the jabber bot and it will update a very simple kind of "gallery". - wish is to have everything run on one server
  73. Link Mauve Heh, sounds fun, you could write such a script based on XEP-0329.
  74. sebastian xmpp is quite complex with all its XEPs ;)
  75. Link Mauve Once you know the ones you want, it’s very simple.
  76. Link Mauve And that’s why asking around when you want to do something is the best way to achieve it.
  77. SouL What I do, sebastian, is to use http-upload and the bot stores those links in a simple html file..
  78. SouL BUt of course that is because I own the server and such
  79. linus sebastian: that's a possibility, but I just use owncloud for much the same purpose
  80. linus The android app has an "instant upload" feature that allows you to automatically upload any pictures taken on an android phone
  81. linus It can also defer the upload until a WiFi connection is available
  82. linus I find it useful as a low-maintenance backup of at least the pictures I take on my phone
  83. SouL linus: that sounds great
  84. linus SouL, sebastian: Given recent developments I'd recommend nextcloud over owncloud though, haven't got around to switching myself yet.
  85. SouL linus, Yeah, I want to switch too
