  7. spicewiesel is Gajim able to display client icons? Most important would be an icon to show mobile clients

  11. Robert hi, is it possible to get voice/video calls between windows and linux working or is there any restriction
  12. Link Mauve It is possible, AFAIK Gajim implements voice chat on Windows as well, but nobody succeeded in getting video chat yet.
  13. Link Mauve As long as you use a recent version, I think voice chat on Windows got introduced in 0.16.
  14. Link Mauve Voice and video were already working on Linux by 0.14.
  15. Robert i try it, linux to linux is working very well but under windows i get an error from some python files...
  16. Robert i'm using the latest versions for windows and linux but it seems something is missing on windows
  17. Link Mauve If you paste the full error and create a bug report on trac.gajim.org, Asterix can probably do something for that.
  18. Robert there is any problem with gstreamer
  19. Robert Error: Element doesn't implement handling of this stream. Please file a bug. Debug: gstbasetransform.c(2541): gst_base_transform_handle_buffer (): /GstPipeline:pipeline2/GstBin:bin12/GstVideoScale:videoscale8: not negotiated
  20. Robert i will open a bug for this
  21. Robert it would be very nice if voice/video between windows and linux would work :-)
  22. Link Mauve It is also illegal in many countries to provide H.264 decoding without paying a license per-user.
  23. Link Mauve So I can understand why this particular Gstreamer plugin isn’t distributed.
  24. Link Mauve Maybe you can switch the codec to VP9 or something?
  25. Robert okay i will try, can you please tell me how to change the codec?
  26. Robert is it a clientside or serverside setting?
  27. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #8175 (Gajim status/tray icon disappears after idle time on gnome 3.14) created Bug description Almost every morning after having left Gajim open all night (idle), I find out the tray icon became invisible. This never happens during the day when using Gajim. Gajim is still running and the icon is still occupying the space but invisible, see attached screenshot: i[…] https://trac.gajim.org/ticket/8175 • Screenshot from 2015-10-27 10:04:35.p[]
  28. Link Mauve Everything in audio/video is a client thing.
  29. Link Mauve But I have no idea how to change that in Gajim, I’m not even using it. ^^'
  30. Robert okay thanks, i cant find a codec option under Audio/Video settings in gajim... anyone else? :-D
  31. Robert there is also an open bub for this #7809 Cant use jingle video chat on windows, but nothing since 14 month...
  32. Robert *bug
  33. Link Mauve You could answer on this one then.
  34. Robert okay...

  36. Link Mauve Robert, oh, I failed to notice, but as I said before video chat doesn’t work on Windows.
  37. Link Mauve Have you tried audio-only?
  38. Robert okay i missunderstood it :-)
  39. Robert not yet but i give it a try
  40. Robert do you know what is the problem with video on windows?
  41. Link Mauve Lack of developers, I guess.
  42. Link Mauve Asterix is pretty much the only person developing Gajim, and he runs Linux.
  43. Robert sadly im not a developer... i try to go away from skype but without a fully featured windows client it is impossible to convince my friends ;-)
  44. Holger Have you tried Jitsi?
  45. Holger Might be another good option if you need audio/video support.
  46. Robert yes i try but i use prosody on server side with non-standard ports and i wasnt able to login
  47. Holger Jupp, das klappt bei uns.
  48. Holger (Allerdings auch nur unter Linux getestet.)
  49. Holger Hier kann man's mit dem Browser ausprobieren: https://meet.jit.si/
  50. Holger Die meisten Komponenten sind da identisch zu denen, die man mit dem Desktop-Client nutzen würde.
  51. Holger Oops, sorry.
  52. Holger So ... what special dependencies are required to use Gajim's current 'default' branch with GTK+3? And will they just be used or is there some flag to enable?
