  3. vetetix Hi, I'd like to know what is the prefered way to install Gajim on Ubuntu
  4. vetetix I'm using Ubuntu 15.04, on which Gajim 0.16.0 is available in the APT repositories
  5. vetetix I obviously would like to install the latest version 0.16.4
  6. vetetix Last time I tried to install via `pip install gajim`, it seemed to me that Gajim wasn't integrated into Ubuntu's interface as well as the APT version
  7. mt vetetix: http://gajim.org/downloads.php#ubuntu
  8. vetetix mt, thanks
  9. vetetix but aren't the nightlies some sort of "beta", or even "alpha" versions?
  10. vetetix what if I only want to install stable versions?
  11. mt vetetix: the repository also contains the latest stable version
  12. vetetix right, thanks
  13. arune vetetix: use the Debian repos on gajim download page
  14. arune Or was the ubuntu page updated?
  15. mt arune: yep, https://hg.gajim.org/gajim-website/rev/9b596610d3ea
  16. arune 👌
  17. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7839 (Error opening «Archiving Preferences» windows) updated ok the problem is that server doesn't respect the XEP correctly when sending our preferences: XEP says: when the server returns the user's preferences to the client the element MUST include an element that specifies whether automatic archiving is on or off. And your server's answer doesn't contain a <auto> element. Moreover, your serv[…] https://trac.gajim.org/ticket/7839#comment:13

  19. Johannes On the muc encryption: have you seen conversations omemo proposal?
  20. Asterix I haven't. But I don't plan to implement anything that is not at least an experimental XEP
  21. Johannes http://conversations.im/omemo/ this is their proposal
  22. Johannes They seem to be in the process of making it an xep
  23. Link Mauve Johannes, I personally wouldn’t accept it (nor implement it) before they fix the full-stanza encryption.
  24. Link Mauve It’s 2015, we do know how sensible metadata is, there is no point in encrypting just the body.
  25. Holger I would've thought the metadata that's usually considered the most sensible in 2015 is the 'from' and 'to' attributes of stanzas.
  26. Johannes Ah, I see, sounds reasonable
  27. Link Mauve Indeed, which is encrypted by TLS. :p
  28. Holger Just like the chat states.
