Gajim - 2014-04-05

  1. GreenBlood There's a wierd issue I'm having. private messages from me to another gajim user in a muc, to be precise. When I send a message, there's this red cross next to my message saying the message was lost, though, the other user recieves it
  2. Link Mauve He probably advertise its support for message acks, but doesn’t send any.
  3. Link Mauve A log would be helpful.
  4. Link Mauve A log of the moment when you enter the private discussion and exchange a few messages.
  5. GreenBlood I have the xml of me sending a message to a gajim user, and theres the <Out> of my message, and nothing comes back, and the red cross appears

  7. Link Mauve Hmm, if you throw in encryption I’m not sure what is the correct behaviour.
  8. Link Mauve And those messages certainly don’t ask for acks.
  9. GreenBlood Well I don't remember changing any settings.
  10. GreenBlood I'm on nightly build, btw
  11. GreenBlood Is there some switch to turn on or off regarding acks ?
  12. Link Mauve I don’t know, but my best guess is that Gajim thinks they are enabled but disabled them to get better privacy due to the limitations of current encryption schemes.
  13. Link Mauve Which reminds me I should finish my Jingle XML Streams patch for SleekXMPP to get Asterix to implement it too. :|
  14. GreenBlood Well It never did that before recently
  15. Link Mauve Did you start using encryption with that particular guy at that moment?
  16. GreenBlood There's no particular guy, its everybody on gajim
  17. Link Mauve Hmm…
  18. GreenBlood Just tested with everybody in the muc
  19. Link Mauve And you use encryption with them all?
  20. Link Mauve Does it do it with me as well?
  21. GreenBlood Sending message to psi users don't give me the cross
  22. Link Mauve Ok, so I assume it’s because Gajim advertise support for message acks and poezio don’t.
  23. Link Mauve Psi neither.
  24. Link Mauve So this is a bug for Asterix. :)
  25. GreenBlood Well, its wierd cuz others gajim people don't have this issue
  26. Link Mauve Perhaps they don’t use the same encryption method as you?
  27. Link Mauve Try disabling encryption and trying again.
  28. GreenBlood E2E ?

  30. GreenBlood But still red cross
  31. Link Mauve Ok, you are still not requesting acks.
  32. GreenBlood how are ack called in xmpp world ? I'm gonna dig in the advanced settings
  33. GreenBlood Good news, somehow. Direct chat without muc between seems to work

  35. Link Mauve Receipts.
  36. GreenBlood Yep
  37. GreenBlood There are in direct chat but not through muc, could it be the server ?
  38. GreenBlood well no, i'm not even asking for acks
  39. Link Mauve No, it’s you that doesn’t send them.
  40. Link Mauve Either your client doesn’t think your contact supports them, or it disables them for another reason.
  41. Link Mauve I’m thinking about encryption, but it could be something else.
  42. Link Mauve http://www.xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0184.html btw.
  43. GreenBlood In advanced configuration, answer_receipts and request_receipt are activated on all acount
  44. GreenBlood s
  45. GreenBlood The 'request receipts' part is bundled into the encryption ?
  46. mathieui sadly not
  47. GreenBlood I tried putting all down (request and reply), and putting them back on one by one, but still, request requests nothing
  48. Link Mauve Ok, tomorrow I’ll work on Jingle XML Streams and hopefully finish it.
  49. Link Mauve It’s just too sad to be unable to use XMPP just because of shitty encryption.
  50. GreenBlood Damn, on direct chat i'm recieving acks like 5 seconds later
  51. GreenBlood Even though the other people replied to me
  52. GreenBlood (this may be my shitty internet, tho)
