  1. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7606 (Cannot permanently whitelist self-signed certificate) created Bug description Gajim refuses to permanently whitelist the certificate of my jabber server ( On first startup, it correctly complains that the certificate is self-signed, and I tell it to remember this certificate. However, on next startup, it complains that the fingerprint does not match, even though the certificate did not change. I can tell it to […][…]
  2. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7607 ("Quit" menu item does not work) created Bug description The "Quit" menu item in the "Actions" menu does not work. Steps to reproduce Start Gajim Click Actions - Quit Expected Results: Gajim quits Actual results: Nothing happens, except for a python error on the console Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/gajim/src/", line 2547, in on_quit_request self.get_status_message('offline', on_continue, show_pep=False[…] https://trac.gajim.or[…]
  3. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7606 (Cannot permanently whitelist self-signed certificate) closed fixed: it's fixed in 0.16 beta releases. Debian package for beta is available on
  4. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7607 ("Quit" menu item does not work) updated Could you run "gajim -l gajim.c.z.zeroconf_avahi=DEBUG" from console? There must be an error with avahi in those logs
  5. ralf hi all
  6. ralf I just installed the beta debian package to test whether is really fixed, but with that version I am unable to connect to my server at all. should I report a new bug?
  7. ralf I am getting the following backtrace:
  8. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Changeset [15199:ee8f2e6efe1b]: cipher specification cleanup cipher specification cleanup
  9. ralf Asterix: running gajim with the avahi debug setting yields the following output:
  10. Asterix ralf, you need nbxmpp 0.3
  11. ralf Asterix: I took the one from
  12. Asterix 14:06:44 (D) gajim.c.z.zeroconf_avahi org.freedesktop.Avahi.NotPermittedError: Not permitted
  13. Asterix this is the problem
  14. ralf I guessed so^^
  15. ralf I mean, I dont really want to use the avahi chat
  16. ralf but it shouldnt prevent me from quitting ;-)
  17. Asterix indeed
  18. ralf I disabled most of the stuff in my avahi config
  19. ralf [publish] disable-publishing=no disable-user-service-publishing=yes #add-service-cookie=no publish-addresses=yes publish-hinfo=no publish-workstation=no publish-domain=no
  20. ralf maybe thats the problem
  21. Asterix I don't know how to reproduce that, so I think I'll need you to test a patch :)
  22. ralf well, thats okay, as long as I dont have to install stuff into /usr with "make install"
  23. ralf anything I can do in a local prefix is fine
  24. Asterix one thing t a time: nbxmpp. where did you get beta version of gajim?
  25. ralf
  26. Asterix I indeed forgot to build debian package for 0.3 ...
  27. Asterix let me do that now
  28. ralf ;-)
  29. Asterix you cn use the -nightly, it will be the same
  30. ralf okay then... then Ill probably have to wati for a release until I actually use gajim "in production"
  31. ralf okay I installed the nighyl packages for nbxmpp and gajim
  32. ralf the avahi bug is still present. however, when I disable the "Local" account, it no longer quits.
  33. Asterix ok, I'll try to repro with your avahi config to correctly fix it
  34. ralf okay, great
  35. ralf I'm not sure for how much longer I can stay online, but if you cannot reproduce it, I can definitely try a patch - just maybe not today
  36. Link Mauve Asterix, btw, you broke python3 support in nbxmpp, apparently in one of the last nine commits.
  37. Asterix I didn't commit anything in py3 branch did I?
  38. Link Mauve Many times you used the “except Exception, e:” syntax instead of “except Exception as e:” one.
  39. Link Mauve Ah, there is a specific branch?
  40. Link Mauve I thought both could be compiled from the same code.
  41. ralf how can I find out whether gajim supports audio/video on my system? I installed pythpn-farstream, and now it correctly lists my AV devices in the settings dialogue. yet, for contacts for which pidgin offers audio/video calls, gajim does not offer them (in the context menu).
  42. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7606 (Cannot permanently whitelist self-signed certificate) updated Indeed, I can confirm the bug is gone in the current nightly. Thanks :)
  43. Asterix Link Mauve, no there is too much diff, so we have a different branch
  44. Asterix ralf, help -> features
  45. Link Mauve Ok. :(
  46. ralf Asterix: htere it says AV is available
  47. Asterix then it should work ... if pidgin uses the same version of the specification ... which may not be ...
  48. ralf oh, there are incompatbilities even between different versions of jabber AV support? ouch
  49. ralf unfortunately the only contact of mine using gajim is not online^^
  50. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7608 (Notifications sounds are clipped at the end) created Bug description The notification sounds played by Gajim are clipped at the end. This is especially noticeable for "Attention", "Contact Connected", and "Contact Disconnected". I am using PulseAudio? as sound system, and the current Gajim nightly. Steps to reproduce Open the configuration dialogue and go to the "Manage Sounds"[…]
  51. Asterix 0.3 debian package uploaded
  52. ralf Asterix: great, thanks :)
  53. ralf hm, now Im trying to get metacontacts to work, but even if I drag one contact onto another, they dont get merged
  54. Darlan Asterix, Contact Information (Ctrl+I) button should be disabled when an occupant is not presented in MUC.
  55. ralf I got to go now... Merry Christmas everyone, and thanks to all of you who worked/are working on Gajim for all the time you spent on it :)
  56. Darlan Gajim Christmas (Yellow, White, Red) on every December month.
  57. Darlan About dialog and Taskbar icon.
  58. pvtlth MERRY CHRISTMAS Y ALL!!!
