  1. Darlan "Just about all of this IM activity is hosted on public servers set up specifically to handle instant messaging traffic. The servers are, of course, owned by the various companies providing the IM services. All of it is available without charge, so far. But what if the companies decide it is time to start charging?" <http://web.archive.org/web/20020711110325/http://newsforge.com/newsforge/02/07/08/1846200.shtml>
  2. Darlan Back then, we were discussing about saving money, which is an appropriate reason, and, today, we care about privacy :-)

Seems to happen on Gajim 0.15.4 and 0.16-beta1 on Windows 7 and 8.1, using gpg (GnuPG) 2.0.22 (Gpg4win 2.2.1), libgcrypt 1.5.3. https://trac.gajim.org/ticket/7565

  7. bot RSS: Feeds for Gajim • Ticket #7543 (Colorized occupants roster) updated wrong idea. I think we need colored occupants for chatstate in muc https://trac.gajim.org/ticket/7543#comment:2
  8. Darlan Chatstate in occupant roster is going to be funny. User1 "composing..." User2 "composing..." User1 "paused..." User2 "paused..." User1 "composing..." You type. Oh, no; please, you type. :-P
  9. dicson not implemented
  10. Link Mauve Darlan, try poezio or Jappix, to see how it works in practice.
  11. Link Mauve It’s actually pretty cool.
  12. Darlan dicson, how come there is no icon for Jappix?
  13. Darlan dic and Link Mauve can see chatstate.
  14. Ge0rG I wonder if I should add a spinning circle to the actionbar as a typing indicator
  15. Link Mauve Ge0rG, in MUC?
  16. Ge0rG Link Mauve: no MUC yet.
  17. Link Mauve Btw, did its branch get merged?
  18. dicson ha! font color in muc
  19. Ge0rG will have to have a look at jappix
  20. Darlan Ge0rG, I suggested to use pencil (animated ASCII style) https://trac.gajim.org/ticket/7476#comment:6
  21. Link Mauve Err, wouldn’t it get annoying very fast?
  22. Darlan I think so, but maybe yaxim users would be interested.
  23. Ge0rG is there a pencil unicode char?
  24. Darlan I will not like to that animated ascii pencil again.
  25. Darlan Yes ✎
  26. Darlan U+270E LOWER RIGHT PENCIL
  27. Darlan There is also ✍ U+270D WRITING HAND, but it is too small.
  28. Ge0rG cool, both work in android's default font

  30. Maranda Ge0rG, implemented MUC yet :P?
  31. Ge0rG Maranda: there is a branch for MUC
  32. Maranda does it *work* :P?
  33. Ge0rG Maranda: for some definitions of work, yes.
  34. Maranda Ge0rG, there's a compiled apk of it perhaps?
  35. Ge0rG Maranda: indeed. it is not quite uptodate, but the MUC code did not change since then: http://duenndns.de/yaxim/yaxim-gl-2013-06-20_muc.apk

  41. pvtlth Is there a beginner-friendly Python GTK tutorial?
  42. Maranda Hmmm I think I found a bug in Gajim...
  43. Maranda after a server restart it asks me for a password to join mucs which don't have one, and also a tracebacks appears If I cancel the prompts.
  44. dicson pvtlth, http://www.pygtk.org/pygtk2tutorial/
  45. dicson pvtlth, maybe pyQt best choice after gtk3
  46. pvtlth I tried both but I didn't get how to do stuff... Maybe a tutorial can help me. Google didn't help me with that.
  47. Darlan pvtlth, <http://pythonbooks.revolunet.com/>.

  50. Darlan Thanks.
  51. Darlan Asterix, what would end-user do when plugin manager crashes at startup?
  52. dicson Darlan, remove plugin from plugins dir
  53. Darlan So I do, but novice users would uninstall Gajim and forget it.
  54. dicson Darlan, yes. novice users will not learn command-line arguments too
  55. Darlan The shortcut using command-line argument is to be available as Start menu item.
  56. Darlan The solution is to optimize plugin manager, which is not satisfying me.
  57. dicson only for windows users?
  58. dicson or add jabber support to blueman
  59. Darlan I guess so; we can add it to Linux too, but plugin manager does not freeze there as often as on Windows.
  60. Darlan lol
  61. Darlan Eventually, I hope, Blueman or Quod Libet plugin manager, with several additions, will be ported to Gajim.
  62. dicson oh oh..
  63. Darlan :-)
  64. dicson gn :-)
  65. Darlan Good night.
